Description

RF28mm F2.8 STM lens is a super-compact, wide-angle lens great for travel, street photography, and video and is a great entry point for full frame EOS R cameras. Great for still photography and videography, 28mm has been the starting point for getting a wide-angle “look” in pictures and video for decades — wide enough on a full-frame camera, to have a distinct wide-angle character, and yet not so wide that it becomes a challenge to use. This lens absolutely can also be used with APS-C sensor EOS R-series cameras, like the EOS R7, R10, and R50. Its super-compact design combines beautifully with them, and on an APS-C sensor, it provides coverage equal to a standard 45mm lens. Its super-flat design belies the fact that this lens delivers 28mm wide-angle coverage on full frame cameras, along with an f/2.8 maximum aperture. The lens’s minimum focus distance is approximately 9 inches; it accepts 55mm filters, and with the incredibly small front lens element, it uses an optional, dedicated Canon screw-in lens hood EW-55. This compact 28mm RF lens is worth checking out, even if you already own other wide-angle lenses, and carries an attractive price, putting it within reach of many Canon EOS R-series users.

  • Great Little Pancake Lens
Nice little lens! I'm 70 years old and have a lot of pain in my hands, and it's getting harder and harder to carry my beloved zoom lenses. I wanted something small and lightweight to carry around when I don't want all that weight. This lens is lightweight, has very little distortion at 28mm, and is probably comparable in sharpness to the RF 35mm. Easy to carry around all day, and the photos come out great. ... show more

  • JPEG distortion correction necessary
On my canon R5 it automatically corrects distortion on jpeg images - distortion correction is so good the budget lens are well worth the spend even for light commercial work. 10 years as a photographer and a previous real estate photographer for Marriott

  • Great lens for a budget
This is a fixed focal length lens with a low f stop of 2.8 that creates a lovely depth of field. It focuses quickly & I use it often for very low light setting such as concerts. I've noticed very little distortion & it is one of my main lenses I use. I use it frequently and it is completely crucial in my kit. If you are on a budget for good glass, definitely add this one to the list. I use it on a full frame camera & I absolutely love it. I recommend it to anyone that I can. ... show more

  • Excellent for saving weight on a heavy full frame
This little pancake lens is perfect on my Canon R6. It makes me want to carry it again since there is no longer an EF adaptor required. The sharpness is as good as they say. Really a remarkable little lens. Prime lenses like this require a different style of shooting than zooms, but the trade off is worth it. ... show more

  • Great bargain lens and perfect match for the R6 II
A real gem of a lens. I bought this to make my R6 II more portable (Even pocketable!) during work trips and it turned out to be a fun lens to use all the time. Very good results, even compared directly with my EF 24-70 2.8 L II. Very much worth the small price. If there are any negatives to this lens is that it “pushes back” against your hand if you are trying to put on the lens cap and the camera hasn’t fully shut down and set the lens in fully retracted mode (This can take a few seconds after putting the R6 II in the off position ). This behavior makes me somewhat nervous that I might accidentally break it by being impatient. ... show more

  • My favorite travel Lense
I love this little pancake Lense. I wanted a lens I could throw on my Canon, take sharp pictures, and hopefully be able to fit in my pocket and this did exactly that. The build quality is about what you'd expect for a Lens this cheap. The autofocus is a little slow, but it just encourages me to use manual focus. I did expect a larger element, but it didn't make any difference to the sharpness or clarity. I can't speak much about distortion but YouTube it and I'm sure someone will do a deep dive. ... show more
