  • Amazing addition to my Canon
Style: Lens Only
When I bought my Canon EOS-R50, I was ignorant about the cropped sensor details. I was thinking along the terms of my old 35mm cameras I used to have 30 or 40 years ago. So I assumed the 18-45 mm lens would be a really nice wide angle. But with the cropping, it's not. I couldn't even get a photo of my basement wall and the work I was doing downstairs in frame. I had to use my iPhone to zoom back out far enough to get a decent shot. This meant that my 18mm lens was the focal equivalent to about a 29mm lens on my old film 35mm camera. But this one, at 10mm, is like a 16mm lens would've been on my old 35mm film camera. And the difference between the kit lens that came with the camera and this one is amazing. Not only can I get the wider shots now that I want, but it's just a better lens overall. The results of this at 18mm and the kit lens shooting at 18mm is clear to the naked eye. Definitely worth the cost for my use. ... show more

  • Brilliant extra-wide-angle lens
Style: Lens Only
I like this lens very much; my wife and I do a lot of hiking, and oftentimes you need a very wide angle lens to capture a scene. Also, I like the fact that it's a light and compact lens.

  • Useful and Enjoyable Lens
Style: Lens Only
Very surprised. I took this lens with me to a trade show in Detroit and got some very nice shots. I haven't had time to run the RAWs through Lightroom but just looking at the jpgs and some minor corrections, they look pretty good. I love the flexibility of shooting at 10mm, and yes, there is some lens aberration but my R-10 does a nice job correcting this in RAW and honestly, you're shooting at 10mm and you have to expect some warping. Overall, I am happy with this lens and will find lots of uses for it. ... show more

  • Decent wide angle lens
Style: Lens Only
Note: This is an effective 16-29mm lens on APS-C crop sensor cameras, such as Canon's R series (I'm using an R50). I have the RF 16mm (25mm effective), and while it's about as good as this, it's not quite wide enough on APS-C, in my opinion. Ever wonder how they make automobile and RV interiors look huge? A wide angle lens like this is what they use. You have to know how to use a wide angle lens if you want to avoid distortion. If you're not squared up vertically and horizontally, you're going to get distorted (bended lines, or slight fish-eye effect) in your shots, with horizons, tall buildings, etc. Not a good lens for macros*, but you can get some background blur. If you're videoing a live band onstage, you'll need the camera to be centered, at the right height, and don't pan. Short zoom lenses like these are mostly intended to bring your subjects in just a little more if you can't get quite close enough, not to "zoom". You can use it for vlogging. It's not a very fast lens, but it's not horrible in lower light. No built-in IS. *If macros are your thing, in my opinion, the Canon RF 35mm is stellar, and is great for street and vlogging photography. It costs a lot more, but it has IS and can take stunning shots. For a $300 lens from Canon, this 10-18mm wide angle lens is worth having in your collection. ... show more

  • very handy for indoor family shots and outdoor landscapes.
Style: Lens Only
Using it on a Canon R10. The wide angle 10mm is very useful for landscapes and interior shots. Really good for shooting inside churches if you are steady handed and can keep it still for 1/2 sec. That is the only shortcoming to this lens... it's a little bit slow but then it's also small so that's something I knew going in. Indeed this seems to be a common issue with all the lenses that run in the R10 mirrorless and the like. But the bigger lenses are more expensive and... well... simply much bigger and heavier. When I decided to dump the DSLR for the R10 I understood the compromise. Overall a great little lens. Camera with this lens, an 18-45 and an 18-150, batteries, charger and passport all fit nicely in a small shoulder bag. Recommended. ... show more
