- The Canon RF 85mm f/1.4 L VCM is a hybrid-optimized short-telephoto prime engineered for both photo and video creators. Its bright f/1.4 aperture, flattering compression, and selective field of view make it ideal for portraits, events, and tighter framing while delivering smooth bokeh, impressive low-light performance, and crisp rendering suited to modern workflows.
- Advanced optics, including one UD element and one aspherical element, greatly reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations for high clarity and color accuracy. Air Sphere and Subwavelength coatings minimize flare and ghosting, while the rounded 11-blade diaphragm produces stunningly smooth out-of-focus areas that enhance subject separation and visual character.
- Purpose-built for video, the lens features a manual aperture ring with a de-click option for silent iris pulls, exceptionally well-controlled focus breathing, and a linear response manual focus motor. Its matched physical design across Canons Hybrid primes ensures consistent rigging, identical 67mm filter threading, and streamlined multi-lens production setups.
- A fast and quiet Voice Coil Motor autofocus system provides responsive performance for stills and silence-critical video shooting, supported by full-time manual focus override. With a 2.5' minimum focusing distance and 0.12x magnification, the lens handles close-ups effectively. L-series durability, weather sealing, a customizable Control Ring, and a programmable Function Button round out its pro-ready design.
