I came to Amazon looking for a camera to take on vacations and trips. I only ever use my iPhone for pictures, and wanted to invest in something slightly more professional that wouldn't break the bank. I am in no way a photographer, but this camera sure makes me feel like one. It's the perfect size for travelers, as it fits in your hand perfectly, as it's very small and portable. I think the picture quality is absolutely stunning. I can zoom into a tree from over 100 feet away and it looks as if I'm right in front of it! I haven't taken this camera on my trip to Europe yet, but will update and post the pictures I take once I do. I've mostly just played around with it, taking pictures of my dog or sister. I included a selfie to show the flash - that was taken in a pitch black room. I wasn't even sure it would come out clear, but wow! Look at the quality! One thing I would like to address is the wifi, which might be my favorite thing about this camera as a whole. I contemplated buying the Canon powershot SX410, which is a cheaper, slightly older version of this camera, but opted for this because of the wifi feature. I can't boast about it enough. I can take a picture of something, click on the wifi option on the camera, connect to the wifi from my phone, open the free camera app and send the picture directly from my camera to my iPhone. I can also delete that picture from the camera once I've saved it to my phone, so I'll never run out of space! The battery life is also very impressive and it seems to stay charged for a long time (another reason it's great for travelers). And the time it takes to fully charge the battery isn't long at all. I'm just a person who wanted a cool camera to take nice quality pictures. I'm not a photographer or anything near, but I love clean, crisp quality shots. If you want a small, portable camera that takes AMAZING quality pictures, has a KILLER zoom and flash, and has a wifi feature that allows you to share your pictures on social media in the matter of seconds after taking the picture, this is for you. This camera should be so much more expensive that it is because it's absolutely amazing. 10/10 recommend! ... show more

I found this camera easy to use, which was great for someone not very tech savvy. The camera is light-weight and compact, so it won't get in the way and is easy to hold. I also find the wrist strap useful. The pictures are of great quality and the zoom features work very well. I was able to adjust the settings fairly quickly after learning how to use them. The owner's manual is well-written with pictures to easily aid in trouble-shooting. Overall, this is a great camera and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get a functional camera at a reasonable price. ... show more

So far this digital camera has been great. Was very easy to set up and takes nice photos. The camera does require a digital card in order to save photos. I purchased one separately from Amazon for 13.00. There is a small strap that comes with the camera. The shutter speed is good but you can not take fast moving shots with this camera. It is better suited for portraits and still life. The camera is not heavy so would be easy to take with you on a tour. I would also recommend buying a camera bag with the camera to protect it from being scratched or hit. Another nice feature is the Wi-Fi. It was easy to download photos to my laptop without having to connect to it. I saved around 70 from purchasing this camera on Amazon versus best buy. Very happy with the purchase and will be using this on my trips! ... show more

I am an artist who needed a simple new camera for my colorful artwork (and for personal nature hike photos). I have used the camera for a couple of weeks now (still figuring out some of the settings), but I am super happy with it so far. The color seems good, the zoom works well (though can be a bit grainy on super large shots). I shot the moon photo the second day I had the camera. I am really pleased that the self-timer will remain ON from shot to shot instead of having to re-set every time - very handy! The length of the lens takes a bit of getting used to, but I do like the way this feels in my hand compared to a rectangular point-and-shoot. The largest image resolution is HUGE and will yield crisp prints at a smaller size. I am very glad I ultimately chose this Canon PowerShot SX420 out of the literally dozens of cameras I researched over a month's time! (Photos: I bumped up saturation in post editing on the close up of the 1 " and 2" crystals, the moon was shot on a tripod (I never shot the moon before, so that was an exciting result). ... show more

I love this little camera. The zoom is amazing. It's not the best in low light, such as indoors, but outdoors it works fine. I have not printed any pictures yet but the shots look fine on the monitor and on my computer. The battery drained faster than I expected. Apparently the trick is to minimize monitor usage. Unfortunately, there is no viewfinder. It does not take panorama shots or have forced flash in AUTO mode. I haven't used the manual mode(s). The video works fine. This is a good, little, point and shoot super-zoom camera. Cheaper ones used AA batteries. I wanted a camera with a rechargeable battery pack, so I spent a little more. Plus I got extra zoom power (i.e., 42x) and 20 MP resolution. I assume that the more expensive cameras are better but this one will be fine for hiking and vacations. ... show more

But the image stabilization sucks. Sooo many blurry photos. (And it isn't a user issue, since I love taking pictures and I never have this much trouble on any of my other cameras.) I take lots of action shots, and it seems I get one good picture out of every 50, and I would know since I just used this camera to photograph a local event. It was just for fun, or I definitely would've taken my DSLR, but I wanted to see how this one worked. It is crap. I've played with settings, adjusted everything, and any movement blurred. I gave the camera three stars instead of one because that one pic out of 50 was gorgeous—high quality, crips, clear, and gorgeous—but no camera should take such terrible photos consistently. Might knock it down to one star later, but buyer beware! You might just do better with another camera. ... show more

This camera from the get go, feels very light and cheap. Not solid. Like one drop and it will be in pieces. Far too slick also , waiting to be dropped. Only a small part has grip section, for the fingers when the palm part should too. It is NOT intuitive either to use. Try to find different settings other than Macro (that flower icon), Normal and Far away (Mountain icon). 3 settings? What about options within those? Nope. Cannot find them. I will have to read the micro-bible of instructions when my previous small Canon was totally intuitive! When I first was setting it up and entered the date/time, the camera shut off on me after pressing SET. Already a sign of glitchy software. The buttons also do not match the wording on the screen, so its confusing after setting some things, the menu button going back is "setting" the info, and other times the center button called set, is setting it. Its not continual consisten There is ZERO on board memory and without a NOT INCLUDED memory card, you cannot even use the camera!!! Who would not include even a 2 gb card? Its like $4 at any store. Cameras from 10 years ago had on-board AND memory card. Not this one. The lens cap BARELY stays on.. even the slightest tug on the string attached to it and it comes off.. I want it snug, like for travel. Nope easily pops off. It clicks into place but its not a strong click its barely on. Now getting software to even USE it wirelessly since you have no cable to upload photos. No instruction on where to get the serial number to type in to get any type of software. The number is so tiny, I kept typing it in wrong. The instruction page for setting up wireless is a convoluted mess of images and flow chart imagery. As they did not even bother to throw in the CHEAP USB upload cable IN THE EVENT you cannot get wireless working. Before I got that completed, I thought the S/N: number was bad, so I call support. And I thought, wait, its DAY ONE of owning this and I am already having to call support? I sit on hold after the annoying automated woman's voice. 10 minutes later still no transfer to a human. So I call back, it puts me in a CALL BACK queue, of 5 minutes expected wait time.. guess what? Nobody ever called me back, its been an hour. Any support that bad right out of the gate, loses my business, I am getting the Olympus TOUGH I got my mother and she loves it! I didn't realize, ITS WIFI too! UGH.. I would have gotten that the whole time! ... show more
