  • 🔄 Swivel screen enhances flexibility and framing options.
  • 🎤 Audio input and flip out screen support for video recording.
  • 🌐 Useful wifi functionality for easy sharing and remote control.
  • 🔦 Excellent performance in various settings, including low light.

Cons

  • ❗ Wifi connectivity can be unreliable and difficult to use.
  • 🎬 Stabilization for motion shots and autofocus in low light can be problematic.
  • ♻ Some users found little image quality improvement over previous models to justify an upgrade.
  • 🔊 Shutter is noisier than some users expected.

Should I Buy It?

If you're in the market for a versatile DSLR that performs well across a variety of conditions and offers modern conveniences like wifi connectivity, this camera is a solid choice. Though there are some criticisms about wifi reliability and low light performance, the camera's overall quality and positive user experiences suggest it's a worthy investment, especially for those new to the Canon Rebel line or upgrading from a much older model.

  • Really good camera Really good camera
I bought this camera for my girlfriend's birthday since she's been wanting to get into photography, and she honestly hasn't put it down since she opened it. The flip-out touchscreen is a total lifesaver for selfies and vlogging, and the built-in WiFi made it super easy for her to send shots straight to her phone. It takes really crisp photos right out of the box with the kit lens, and even though it's a "real" camera, it wasn't too confusing for her to learn the basics. The battery did run out a little faster than we expected during a long day at the park but I suggest to buy a dummy battery with a powerbank if you plan to videorecord. ... show more

  • Absolutely in love!
I CANNOT stress how much I love this camera! I've used it in a variety of settings from city shots at night, to every day photographing to caves. The camera handled all of these situations like a pro and gave me some seriously amazing photos. There are all kinds of settings that take a while to learn, but there's also a creative setting that allows you to take photos with minimal work. The wifi setting is absolutely amazing, especially for people like me who love to post to Instagram. The camera itself emits its own wifi, so no matter where you are you can upload your photos to the cloud or google drive on your phone and back them up. Well worth the extra money! The weight is good, not too light but not too heavy and the tilt screen is great. I would recommend this camera for anyone who's looking to have a quality camera that's easy enough to use. There's a learning curve, but once you've got it you'll love this camera as much as I do! ... show more

  • Reasonable cost, high quality
I love this camera and in a SxS comparison, it’s comparable to 80D. It has a great sensor, flip out screen, audio input and does great video, which is what I’m looking for. For motion shots don’t expect much stabilization and for low light, autofocus becomes wonky. But a half press of the trigger quickly fixes autofocus confusion. In addition, the screen is a touchscreen, which also helps for a quick AF fix. You just tap on what you want to focus on and it quickly corrects. For me, someone who relies on autofocus, this camera performs best on a tripod and with good lighting. But the quality of the output can be excellent. ... show more

  • Worth the Money! Wifi needs improved. Worth the Money! Wifi needs improved.
This is a really good camera for the price. I use it professionally to do real estate photography as well as studio head shots. Yes I know this is an entry level camera, but if you work in controlled environments this camera can do great. But if you are doing event photography this camera probably isn't going to be your best bet. There are other Canon cameras with faster focusing, way better ISO and weather sealing that are awesome for weddings, sports ect. This camera works very similar to my previous camera the Canon Rebel t3i. I didn't really notice a difference in resolution even though my last camera was 18MP and this is 24MP. The only difference to me was the wifi and touch screen. Wifi: 2/5 I love that they included wifi on this camera, it allows you to see what the camera is seeing in live view, change camera settings and even view photos you just took. But if you are using your phone to control the camera, your camera goes black and you cannot use the view finder, the screen or any of the controls on the camera, only the phone. In order to go back to using your camera you have to un pair your phone. In order to use your phone again you have to re enable wifi on your camera and re pair the camera and phone. This can get really annoying. I wish this worked like a few other cameras I have used that allow you to use your phone and the camera at the same time with out un pairing and re pairing. Because if I walk away from my camera I want to be able to control it with my phone, but if I walk back to it I want to be able to use the cameras screen and controls. Secondly the app could be a lot more intuitive than it is. But over all I am glad this camera has the feature and I have used it a few times. Touch screen: 4/5 I don't use touch screen but I tried it out and it works well. The nice thing is you can lock the touch screen so that it doesn't work by touch. That way you don't accidentally bump things. Image quality: 4/5 For this price point you can get pretty dang good pictures if you know what you are doing, have good light and a good lens. Video Quality: 2/5 I really love canon cameras and several years back I was very impressed with their video capability. But other than the 5D Mark IIII, the video has not improved over the years. It is only HD, and with that being said it is very compressed low bit rate HD so its not even very good HD. I use a Panasonic G7 to get high bit rate 4K video that looks pretty dang good compared to the video on this canon. Continous auto focus in video mode: I am really glad they included this and it works pretty well. I am not able to comment on it much because I normally use manual focus. But there have been a few times I had shots moving focus points and it was nice being able to use the continuous auto focus in video mode it has. I attached a few example images I took with this camera. ... show more

  • Great camera, but disappointing wifi functionality Great camera, but disappointing wifi functionality
I bought this camera about one year ago. I very much like this camera. Keep in mind that I have never owned a DSLR before. My previous camera was a pentax k1000. Some thoughts about the camera: The swivel screen is extremely useful, for more than I would have thought. I often find a subject for a macro shot that I cannot use the viewfinder for. Perhaps it is very high up and I don't have a ladder, for instance. So I just take out the swivel screen and now I can hold the camera above my head and see the shot on the screen! I would not be able to take these photos with the t6. It has a lot of software features. They are all great, but I would like to talk about the wifi functionality. The primary reason I bought this camera was for the wifi functionality, and mostly I wanted to use my smartphone as a remote. The software is very flaky and I can get it to work about 50% of the time (and this is coming from a computer science major). I have purchased an independent remote to use because the smartphone linkup is so unreliable. Though it is quite cool, you can change aperture, shudder speed, and iso from the smartphone and you have live view of the sensor! Everything else is so cool, but it is so unreliable. Very disappointing. There are other uses for the wifi functionality that I have never needed to use and probably never will, personally. The only other regret I have about this camera is that I wish I had known what a full frame and apc-s sensor is and read up about the differences. I still don't know much but I wish I had considered buying a full frame camera even if it would probably have ended up being too expensive. Overall, I am very glad I bought this camera and there are no glaring issues that are so terrible. I attached 4 random photos I took with this camera with various lenses. OH and I almost forgot. Please buy a fast SD card, because using a slow SD card with this camera (and probably any camera) is like when the light turns green and the guy in front of you waits 10 seconds before going forward. • ... upgrade from my Canon Rebel xTi and I'm so glad I did
Finally got up enough courage to upgrade from my Canon Rebel xTi and I'm so glad I did. Out of the box the photos are exponentially better. The quality is outstanding. I dabbled in Manual mode and I am shocked at the difference between the two cameras. I feel like I've been using a prehistoric camera for the past 10 years. I cannot say enough good things about the T6i. It is well worth the extra money. I am not a professional so my opinions are not going to include all the indepth language and such. I know just enough to make manual changes and play with the settings to get better payoff. Even on "auto" this camera will handle anything you can photograph. The autofocus in live mode is a pain so I continue to use th viewfinder for photography and just use the live mode for any videos I may want to take. Excellent option for everyone! ... show more
