  • An Amazingly Capable Pocketable Camera
Style: Body Only
This is a great little video-centric camera, but it takes great photos as well. The experience of taking photos is a lot like using a cell phone since there is no EVF, but the experience is refined and much improved. Unfortunately, since this camera is video-first, switching between manual mode, aperture priority, and shutter priority is all done on the screen after placing the camera in photo mode. It's not a huge deal if you rarely ever change modes, and since I rarely ever leave manual mode, I didn't care too much. Turning the dial allows two clicks to go from photo to video. I'm not sure why the slow and fast mode was placed between these two, but that's where they chose to stick it. The video is more impressive than I was expecting. The APS-C sensor gives you an effective Super 35 video mode (the primary sensor size used in Hollywood productions). In 4K24, it downsamples the entire sensor, producing a very sharp image. This camera pairs CLog3 with the ability to capture 10-bit video in both H264 and H265. Although I'm new to CLog3, I've heard that this camera's capabilities are quite impressive for its price range. The camera honestly reminds me of the leap I took over 10 years ago when I purchased the Lumix GH4. It seems people don't really know this camera is out there, but it is terrific for the price. When I want to go all-in on photography, I opt for my R6 Mark II, but this camera is significantly smaller, lighter, and more portable, provided you have a compatible ultraportable lens. I can use my EF adapter to mount my EF lenses, or I can use RF lenses; however, outside of options like the 50mm f/1.8 and 28mm f/2.8, RF lenses can easily double the size or more. It's an extremely capable camera, and I will be using it for both professional and hobby work. This camera is undoubtedly an essential addition to any Canon RF shooter's arsenal. ... show more

  • Great mid range camera for video!
Style: Body Only
Great little mid range camera for video and light videos I have a R7 and the video quality is very comparable great for projects and small gigs the auto focus works wonderfully and the battery life feels long. I will say the temp gauge has come up a couple times but it never goes up just a gauge.

  • Canon EOS R50 V
Style: Body Only
I purchased the Canon R50 V a few months ago because I was looking for a smaller, more compact camera with interchangeable lenses, mainly for video work. While it can take photos, this camera is clearly designed with content creators and videographers in mind. One feature I really like is the dedicated “Live” button, which quickly brings you into the streaming settings. From there, you can easily configure live streaming to platforms like YouTube and others. It’s very convenient if you plan to use the camera for livestreaming. The camera uses an APS-C sensor with an RF mount. You can use full-frame RF lenses, but keep in mind there will be a crop. I’ve been using the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN, and it pairs great with the R50 V body. It’s compact, sharp, and has reliable autofocus—overall a great match for this camera. Video Performance & Limitations In terms of video, the R50 V performs well, but there are a couple of important things to know: * Shooting 4K at 30fps can cause the camera to overheat after about 30–35 minutes of continuous recording. * Shooting 1080p (30fps or 60fps) is much more stable, and you can record for around an hour without overheating. The camera includes a 3-stage electronic image stabilization system, which works well for handheld shots. However, it does introduce a slight crop, which is something to keep in mind when framing your shots. Audio & Usability Audio quality is solid for this class of camera. It supports 2-channel and 4-channel audio recording, which is a nice bonus if you’re working with external microphones or more advanced setups. The camera is very compact and lightweight, making it great for travel and everyday use. It’s also beginner-friendly but still offers manual controls and settings you’d expect from more advanced cameras. Photo Capability Even though it’s video-focused, the R50 V can still shoot RAW photos, and image quality is good thanks to the APS-C sensor. That said, I personally use my Canon EOS R6 for photography and keep the R50 V primarily for video. Things to Keep in Mind * No electronic viewfinder (EVF), which might bother some users—but it makes sense for a video-focused design * Battery life is on the shorter side, especially when shooting 4K * You’ll definitely want to buy extra batteries if you plan on recording for extended periods. Overall, the Canon R50 V is a fun, compact, and capable camera, especially for beginners getting into video or content creation. It offers strong features, good audio options, and excellent portability. ... show more

  • Great cam for the money.
Style: Body Only
For me, it is a perfect b-cam that lives on a gimbal. Works great handheld with a lens that has image stabilization.

  • Great camera
Style: Body Only
I use this now for my podcast and it provides incredible video with a two hour record time before it stops automatically, which is better than my prior camera

  • Good camera, great value, endless possibilities.
Style: Body Only
I'm still getting familiar with all the features and whatnot, but as far as still photos I can say this thing is amazing, I have shot video with it but I haven't actually gotten around to producing it so we'll see how good the clog is for color grading.
