Compact Cinema Camera with Outstanding Image Quality and Autofocus
The Canon EOS C50 is an impressive cinema camera that punches well above its size. Canon did a great job blending true cinema performance with a compact, run-and-gun-friendly body. It’s perfect for documentary, commercial, corporate, and solo-operator work. Image quality is excellent. Canon color science looks fantastic straight out of camera, and the ability to shoot Cinema RAW Light and 10-bit 4:2:2 gives plenty of flexibility in post. Dynamic range is solid, and low-light performance is better than expected for a camera this small. Autofocus is a major highlight. Dual Pixel AF is fast, accurate, and reliable—especially for face and eye tracking. This makes it ideal for one-person crews, interviews, and gimbal work where pulling focus manually isn’t always practical. I also appreciate how lightweight and balanced the camera feels. It’s easy to rig up or strip down, and it works great on gimbals and handheld setups. The RF mount opens the door to Canon’s newer lenses, while adapters make it easy to use EF glass without issue. If you’re looking for a professional cinema camera that’s compact, versatile, and dependable, the Canon EOS C50 is a fantastic choice. It delivers cinematic results without the bulk or complexity of larger cinema rigs. ⸻ ... show more

Overdelivering on features. Super light weight.
I bought this Camera at a store, not on Amazon, but I want to leave a review here. I am an amateur hobbyist. Coming from R6MII, this is an incredible upgrade. I've only used it for video so far, and have not touched the photo mode (separate operating system entirely on this camera). The Cinema OS is fantastic. I am having a blast playing with all the features. I've interrogated a Resolve pro on how to properly grade footage to preserve maximum dynamic range, and was told to apply my LUT at the very end. Basically convert your input footage to DaVinci Wide Gamut/Intermediate using Color Space Transform and you get absolutely incredible dynamic range. I though I had ruined footage due to overexposure of clips going between dark interior and sunlit street, nope all the sunlit frames were fully recoverable this way. Something few reviews talk about is Gyro metadata this camera inserts by default into all footage, and its very very good. I shoot kids at family events running around being crazy, and you can imagine how useful that feature is. Just make sure you're capturing slightly wider than normal because GyroFlow node will eat the margins of the frame. Get yourself a color chart and 18% gray card and you will be pretty much set. There are so many customizable buttons (super easy too with a visual guide on screen), I've assigned base ISO and False Color to two front facing bottom buttons. Top left corner button (like on most canon cameras) is for measuring white balance against 18% gray card. Just an incredible camera. Yeah screen is basically invisible in sunlight, that is the only downside. The camera weighs nothing, the weight is all in the lens for me. Love the handle, just wish zoom rocker was customizable too, kind of a bummer there. I'd love to hook that up to manual focus for example. Really dig all the modes, like Super35 that gives extra stop of dynamic range (weird). Overall absolutely excellent. ... show more

Excellent entry cinema camera
Outstanding cinema camera in this price range. I love being able to film in 7k open gate without having to be in RAW. Having C-Log2 is also a huge bonus. I have the R5C, and prefer the video I can get out of the C50.

Novice using the c50
It should come with a hardcopy when you’re trying to look up one particular thing it’s difficult to find using the iPad or the iPhone. With the hardcopy, you can put place markers for the areas you’re gonna be using that day. If you have any questions, just pull the pace page makers find your spot. The camera is great. I am going to have to get used to not shooting with an eye viewer. I am acknowledge using the cinema camera that should help to explain why I’m having so many problems. It’s the operator not the camera. ... show more
