Easy to use in Automatic mode. Photos very clear and crisp. Movies are only 720p but very satisfactory. Microphone pickup is marginal. Battery cost for spares is very reasonable, genuine Canon are around $10. I picked up a charger here on Amazon for under $10 that I can use with micro USB charging devices such as battery power packs. After watching a few videos and actually READING the manual I easily set up wireless picture transfer with my Android phone, IPad, Win10 computer and Canons photo repository site. we had a similar ELPH camera that was several years old, wasn’t working well any more. At first we ordered a similar Sony model but colors were washed out and it took a long time to save an image once you took it. We returned it straight away. This one is less metal so it is light but feels less durable. At first I thought the battery was missing since couldn’t find it. Checked again and it was taped inside the folded up manual. Picture quality is quite good, the bigger lens lets more light in and the 10x zoom helps get more shots vs a phone camera. The speed of image capture seems slower than the older model, but we still press halfway down to focus, then all down to take the pic. It also is nice having the controls very similar to the prior camera. And the compactness makes it great for bringing along on trips. ... show more

This is a good middle of the road camera, in that at 20% of the cost of other digital cameras you get 80% of the results. In my opinion that makes it suitable for most casual photographers. Unless you're after the highest quality images then this is camera just fine. It takes good pictures, much better quality than I can get on my phone anyway, and is small enough to take anywhere. Given the cost and portability it's well worth it. The quality is right and it has just enough in the way of features, optical zoom, etc. to get the photo you want, without fussing with a big camera bag, multiple lenses, and all else that you would need to take the very best photos. ... show more

Poor, Pro's ? takes good pictures I liked the optical zoom and color options. COns ? OMG where do I begin. Antique propriety wire which doesnt come with camera, luckily I had one to hook t my computer. Good thing because the WIFI is really bad, never did get it to work on my computer, got it to go on my kindle after downloading special cannon software,, but really ? Camera itself is flimsy and feels fragile, worse thing is, instead of a micro usb cord that can handle charging and data transfer like pretty much every other small electronic in the world, this one you have to operate tiny delicate parts to get the battery out, and put it on a wall charger. Which leads me to believe the flimsy door wont last long. Buttons and operating system are hard to navigate, things just arnt where you would expect them to be. All in all just a really bad product. I bought this as a gift for Mothers Day for my mom to use to take pictures of purses for her business. So far, she has been very pleased with its quality of the pictures taken, and how easy it is to use. She's able to zoom into the pictures with great detail to be able to look for any inconsistencies, and she loves the size/design of the camera as well. I have been using the ELPHs for the past ten years, and waited for this CCD version to come out. I do see the RAINBOW effect on the display but it does not transfer onto the photo itself. Color Reproduction and focus is decent good for daylight shots. Night Shots are bright as with all elphs but brightness is a bit overwhelming and not always compensated by the software. I waited for this CCD to come out, and I like it, softer tones then CMOS, but I am not a believer yet. The Remote operation of of the camera via a smartphone is an outstanding feature, wifi transfer is great. Optical zoom+ clarity is EXCELLENT for such a small and relatively inexpensive camera. Overall I am a bit disappointed by Canon with this particular model in respects quickness of focusing and color, or it is that Samsung has made Great strides in its cameras for its top-of-line smartphones. Samsung S7 Edge does better color reproduction. ... show more
