    • Lightweight, affordable zoom lens
Amazing how inexpensive zoom lenses have become. I already have Canon's high-end 17-55mm lens that has an f/2.8 aperture all the way across the zoom range. This ranges from f/3.5 to f/5.6. The zoom mechanism is not as silky smooth. But it's more than good enough. I have three Canon DSLRs using the cropped sensor and I wanted a second normal (range) zoom. This fits the bill perfectly, at about one-fifth the cost. I have been pleased with the quality of the images. The attached pictures to me appear to be excellent quality at close, about 4 inches for red flowers, and a foot or 18 inches. Very pleased with the image quality when shot as super fine 15MP (2009 EOS 500D). Didn't see any optical aberrations.

Buy new. Lens came in scratched and needing work. Literally can buy a new one for 50 more dollars. 10/10 would not recommend.
