Description

That adding a trolling motor to you kayak would be a great solution. This canoe trolling motor mount requires no tools and can be tightened with one hand. Just set the clamps to the gunwale tighten the star bolt so that the wingnut engages the clamp hole then tighten down tight. The clamps work well on the majority of canoes but not all. This mount made of solid ash hardwood and is sealed with an acrylic urethane for a beautiful natural finish. Use on a solo old town discovery with a 35lb trolling motor. Bends a lot. Had to make a support beam with aluminum for it. Works good now. Overall not bad for the money but could be a little thicker/tougher

Stay away unless you handy and have plenty of stuff laying around to modify this. It's short the length of pole . So unless it's for a canoe don't bother. Did not fit my kayak and it had pre - drilled spot for a trolling motor set up. Not happy

    • Nice design
Bar was 5" too short. I had to build/add an extension to it. Bar is too weak to hold the trolling motor level. I have to add reinforcing to compensate. Very disappointed.

The mount is very flimsy. It bends when you put a light battery powered motor on it and it constantly falls off now matter how tight you get it.

This does work, and the mount section is nice composite, not wood. I had to add a 2x4 support since it was flexing so bad. Defeated the point of a metal support. Lesson learned. This probably should only be used on 24lb or less trolling motors.

    • Light duty at best and not suitable for all applications
I wouldn’t use this for anything but the lightest trolling motor. At least on a Gheenoe. I didn’t use it for my trolling motor but I thought I could repurpose it as a sonar mount in the bow of my Gheenoe. After a short period of time the clamps worked loose and my sonar unit along with the mount came loose and fell, fortunately inside the boat and without damage to the sonar. I tried repurposing again and that failed. So, because I drilled holes I knew I couldn’t return it. Right now it’s in the back of my truck gathering dust. ... show more
