I’m a huge fan of a good quality knife that feels good in the hands and cuts very easily. These knives are very sharp and I really like the wooden design that’s mixed in with the steel. They have good weight to them, and the knife block is very easy to keep everything organized. The nice light brown color of all of the wood looks fantastic. I love quality knives, and these are quality.

These Cangshan OLIV Series knives are easy to hold/grasp and balance. Despite their look, they are lightweight. And they are definitely very sharp. Be careful when unpacking the knives, there are protective card stock sleeves covering the knives, plus the plastic protectors on some of the edges…all are not covered. I barely hit one end of the bread knife, which did not have a plastic cover…and got a small cut. So be CAREFUL! They are made of a more economical steel (Swedish 14C28N Steel) that’s both very durable and corrosion proof. Plus, making the knives more affordable for home chefs and cooks. The online description states that these knives are partially-tang, but the box indicates that they are full-tang (meaning that the steel is in one continuous piece, extending throughout the entire length of the handle…an important trait of top-quality and professional knives). Full tang knives are safer…and least likely to break apart. No worries of the blade popping or flying off. The olive wood handles are simple, buy beautifully executed and ergonomic…the grain is unique and very distinctive of olive wood, which is less susceptible to bacteria and stains. The handles are very smooth and free of any imperfections. The maple knife block is sturdy, despite the tipping warning…and smooth on the outside. Plus, maple is known as a very durable hardwood, so it should hold up time for years. But, I can actually see the glue and rough areas/splinters inside of the knife slots, so be aware of that when removing the knives from their respective slots…it may be a good idea to rinse them after removal and before use/prepping. This knife block set would be a perfect gift for newlyweds, new homeowners or an inspiring chef. The plain side of the knife block can be personalized by engraving or burning (pyrography) a family name, initials or design onto it. Overall, this is a wonderful knife block set that will become the main go-to set for my kitchen. Quality product. I recommend it.

I purchased these because they're gorgeous! They are even prettier in person with the natural polished wood. The block is esthetically pleasing as well as easy to clean and sanitize. The knives are beautifully crafted, sharp enough to cut through raw chicken like butter, and durable enough to last for decades. Lightweight in your hand but easily manageable for use.

This set is absolutely beautiful! Looks impressive just sitting on the counter. Arrived in a box that is perfect for gifting. Each piece is individually wrapped. Each knife (and scissors) is made well, with ergonomic wood grain handles and beautiful steel. Aside from aesthetics, this is a luxurious quality set of knives. The set has just what you need to chef it up in your kitchen. Smooth, sharp blades mean you can cut and chop with minimal hand torque, the blades do the work. The block is solid and heavy. Highly recommend!

Do not get this for a rookie - they will not appreciate them. Go to a department store and get a cheap set for the rookie. This is pro level equipment! The steel is superb and the olive wood handles are beautiful I have three other chef knifes from $60-170 each. This set is better than those. The shears have some nice weight to them. The knives are amazingly sharp. I cut a tomato slice so thin it only had one side. Crazy.

The media could not be loaded. I love this knife set. They arrive scary sharp as you would expect. I really like the look and feel of the olive wood handles and they provide a secure, comfortable grip. The weight and balance of the knives seems just right to me. Cangshan claims these knives hold their edge up to five times longer than German steel. I decided to put that to the test. In my video I show a sharpness test of a knife I have been using almost daily for two months. The only care I gave that knife was washing and drying after each use. Nothing was done to touch up the edge, but after two months it is still very sharp. It's not scary sharp like it was new, but it is still plenty sharp enough to slice through paper and shave the hairs on my arm.
