My 10 year old tripod met is challenge when I got a professional grade laser level. I didn't think investing in a new tripod was necessary due to this little screw doing the conversion between a typical camera mount to a construction level equipment. This converter works as described. It fits well on the existing tripod and goes nicely into the laser level. But because the unit is so much bigger than a traditional camera would be (think 1980ies type hand-held camera) the little screw that the tripod uses just doesn't provide enough stability. Calibrating the level was very hard on the tripod - even though I had a level-bobble on both the tripod and the level because the unit wasn't 100% steady. For my use it's good enough but I wouldn't use this if I traveled to work-sites all the time. Get the real construction grade tripods if you do. ... show more

Needed this product to adapt a self leveling Laser Level device to an old camera tripod head. The product threaded into the Unit's 5/8" opening easily and tightened securely. The product's 1/4" threaded opening received the tripod's locking screw and secured the laser level unit tight to the tri-axial tilting head.
