Can it be used in high elevations? Yes, but for areas above 2,000 feet, suggest checking if there is sufficient water supply. PS: For every 1,000 feet in elevation, the efficiency of the water heater will decrease by 10%. Does it stay hot the whole time? Yes. As long as propane is flowing and water is being delivered, it stays hot throughout your shower. Can you use it with a bucket of water? You need pressurized water. Connect to tap water via the inlet hose, or draw water from the tank using a 12V water pump (Water pump bundled model: BD158P43). Does it require electricity? If it uses batteries, how long do they last? Two D-type batteries are required (batteries not included). Typically last about 6 months with normal use. What is included and what is required? THE WATER IS HOT, CONTINUOUS, AND IMMEDIATE. MY WIFE LIKES IT AT 132F AND ME A LITTLE COOLER. TEMP IS EASY TO ADJUST AND DIGITAL TEMP READOUT IS A GREAT ADDED BENEFIT. This worked fine for a couple months, then in the middle of a shower it would shut off and on which left us with a cold shower of course at the worst times. I tried to fix the problem with the manufacturer, and they made it hard enough to just make a guy give up on that. I ended up buying a better one and am very happy with it. ... show more

This has been a great addition to my off-grid cabin. I use it in my bathhouse for hot showers. I’m in the mountains where it gets very cold from early fall to late spring. My only gripe is when my water source is bordering on freezing, the Camplux can only heat it to comfortably warm. But at reasonable temps, nice and hot! My advice to anyone else installing this as a permanent fixture - if you leave for the winter, make sure it’s fully drained and store it appropriately. I drained but left mine on the exterior wall for winter, and when I returned there was a hairline crack on a brass fixture inside the unit that caused leakage. However it was within warranty and Camplux sent me a replacement unit despite my lack of foresight on this. Kudos to their customer service. Next time, I’ll bring it inside and wrap it in a blanket when I vacate. ... show more

    • Great Water Heater - Crappy Hose and Instructions
This water heater is awesome! It throws plenty of hot water and has great pressure with just my garden hose hooked up. I like a shower on the hotter side and this thing delivers. Using the heater is simple and easy and I've been using it for two weeks without any issues with the actual heater. The cons of this product is the hose and sprayer are junk. The hose on mine blew open this morning when I used the shutoff on the nozzle. Luckily I was just about done my shower. The sprayer and the mount are plastic and feel cheap. The instructions are pretty awful. For a product that advertises it's "americanness" I was surprised to find directions that were written in pretty poor english. The instructions also were not very clear. There was a section on setting up the unit, and then a section on operating the unit which also had more and somewhat conflicting directions on setting up the unit, and then no section on shutting off the unit. I'm a pretty handy guy but the directions left me guessing on whether I was doing everything correctly. Buy this item for the hot water heater but plan to purchase your own sprayer before the stock one breaks on you. ... show more

This review is for product support which has been outstanding. A couple of weeks after installing the unit I was having issues with the heater staying lit. It then would not ignite at all. I called the customer support line and was able to talk to a real human! A technician stayed on the line with me for an extended period of time walking me through trouble shooting procedures. When we were not able to resolve the issue, I was given instructions to initiate a return. Camplux is sending me a brand new unit. Again, great customer service (pretty much unheard of today). I will follow-up with a product review in a few months after installing the new water heater. This is for an outdoor shower. ... show more

I was skeptical about what to expect... how good it will work (etc) after the negative reviews. I installed this to be set up at camp on the front of the trailer and stowed while traveling. I sent cold water to it and route hot water back inside to the kitchen sink, as well. So, am showing under sink so you can see how I did it. Oh, this is a cargo trailer converted to toyhauler / camper. Pro is it works very well. You can adjust the water flow and the heat. I was surprised at just how strong the spray using my onboard fresh tank and Shurflo pump. I love the pump, by the way. Only con is it uses British Standard Pipe (Parallel). First time I've dealt with this, so much noddling and fretting over how to connect to it. These are different than NSP as they are not tapered so they rely on either a gasket (bonded seal) or an interference fit inside the pair, if so designed. These are not so designed and I could not locate a seal. As a last resort, I used a bunch of teflon tape, although not the right way to do it, it doesn't leak. The wand hose also expects BSPP but sealed well against NSP (the pieces I brought to the party)... all these are 1/2" or whatever the Brits call their equivalent. (M12??) I have a shower / potty / changing tent and have made a roll up mat with wooden slats to stand on. ... show more

    • I love it and hate one part of it

They made a great product but used low quality shower hose.I received my heater the day before we were going camping late so never got a chance to test it before hand.When we got to the campground I took it out of the box set it up according to the instructions and added a low flow water pressure restrictor to the line.The heater was very easy to set up as the instructions were very clear.Once set up the product preformed just as advertised even better really had to turn the heat down.Took one shower with it and then it happened.The hose from the heater to the wand burst at the base of the heater pouring water all over the heater inside and out.Wanting to give the company the benefit of the doubt and thinking this was just a bad hose slipping through the inspection process.Luckily for me we were close to a store and the hose and wand were standard size pick one up and dried the unit out put the new hose on and the unit work great so far. The hose that burst I had a chance to look at and then I really got pissed the metal surrounding the hose came apart and exposed the inner hose which was a real flimsy piece of garbage it was maybe the thickness of a balloon. WHY would you do that to a great well constructed product.Cheapen it up with an flimsy poorly constructed hose. The heater is a great product and will give 5 stars, the hose is a piece of garbage and too the company {Get your act together]the money you save by not using good quality parts is going to cost you business ... show more
