Stow it and go. —"BlackPongo" This netted hammock is just peachy, and one of its most clever features is the stow-and-go size. The system ships with an attached bag that makes deployment, packing away, and traveling with the item a welcomed convenience. To begin, its size and configuration meet ultra-light demands. The hammock only weighs 720g and measures approximately 12” x 10” x 2.5” when it’s completely collapsed. Fitting this system into a backpack, duffle, or medium-sized tank or tail bag is remarkably easy and workable. Next, the hammock deploys fast. It utilizes a covered and flexible rib structure that provides the basic support and shaping mechanism. This means hauling extra support ribs or poles is not necessary. The user simply frees the hammock from its attached pocket, and the item springs into its basic form. The only real work is calculating where you’re going to hang the system and how you’re going to suspend it. Note that visually, the freed hammock might appear small. From rib to rib, it measures approximately 4.5', and across from brace connection to brace connection, approximately 3'. However, the floor material possesses considerable loft, and this sumptuous material sags accordingly. Standing at 5’10” and 180 lbs, I fit the item just fine. And I believe individuals up to about six feet will probably find it roomy enough. One particular element that might not get discussed often is that the netting canopy is attached by one, two-directional, but continuous zipper. This means that if desired, the netting can be completely removed, thus displaying the traditional hammock silhouette. The BlackPongo hammock also ships with carefully sewn and synched ends that anchor the provided karabiners. And although the manufacturer provides two seven-foot cordage runs, this will probably not be enough, because it is highly improbable that the operator will ever find perfectly equidistant trees or hanging posts. Minimally, general circumstances demand that there should be at least one hank of 550-weight paracord in a 100-foot run, preferably two hanks. This way the operator can use a series of butterfly knots and trucker’s hitches to hang the item. Pros: • Impossibly light for a hanging covered hammock • Incredibly small and packable—measuring approximately 12” x 10" x 2.5" when compressed in its pocket. • This apparatus will protect the user from encroaching insect pests. • The hammock supports up to 500-700 lbs (smooth) – suspended • The hammock stores away into its own attached pocket. • The hammock is more or less self-contained and emerges from the bag almost completely ready to use. The user only needs to suspend it, if desired. • Because of its basic construction, this could be used as a ground bivvy sack of sorts with a ground cover. • The netting canopy can be interfaced externally and internally by a bi-directional zipper. • The netting canopy can be completely detached and disassembled. • The attached pocket can be utilized as a catch-all while suspended. • It’s roomy considering its compact size. • Weighs only 720g • The entire apparatus is constructed precisely and assembled well. • Ships with the required materials to hang and use immediately. Special tools are unnecessary. Cons: • Its ultra-light makeup harbors a ruggedness penalty. • The netting is exceptionally light. • The internal/external attached ribs must be folded carefully and precisely, or you will damage the netting when repacking the hammock. Extra care with this component is essential! Packing this away sober is strongly recommended—Ha! • The zippers are adequate, not ideal. In conclusion, the system is functional and clever, and I like its design aims. Those wanting the convenience of a hammock without the usual bulk and weight will love this item. The largest observation is that this item is not for the carefree who regularly run their equipment to their extreme service edge. If you pack this too fast and without care, you’ll likely damage it; if you swat at something in the night with jagged fingernails, you’ll likely tear the netting; if you move too fast with the zippers, you might experience an unwelcomed snag or tear. So yes, it does have some considerations. But as a whole, this does also solve certain problems, especially for motorcycle campers, ultra-light backpackers, and anyone who wants a very portable relaxation system without the weight penalty. I recommend this item… But with noted caveats.

The material feels strong and durable, yet it's lightweight enough to carry without adding much weight to my gear. Setup was quick and easy thanks to the included straps and carabiners, and everything packs neatly into the carrying pouch. The built-in mosquito net is a huge bonus. It keeps bugs out while still allowing plenty of airflow, which made relaxing outside much more enjoyable. The hammock feels spacious and comfortable, and I had plenty of room to stretch out and relax. I also appreciate that it comes with everything needed to get started right away. The quality exceeded my expectations for the price, and it feels sturdy and secure when in use. If you're looking for a comfortable camping hammock with bug protection, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!

This hammock is very compact and easy to take anywhere. The rope for hanging this hammock is very sturdy and grips really well. The material is very thin and lightweight compared to how strong the material feels. The net closure is held in a way that open or closed, it will not get in the way of comfort. The carrying bag is well placed on the side where the net opens, making it perfect to store items like a book or bottle of water, for easy access while lounging. Those are the positives. Now for the needs improvement. This hammock could benefit from a second attached bag or straps to hold the net closure while not in use. The design has the net hanging off of the side of the hammock. The net is very large and lays on the ground when in this position. Also, the central part of the hammock feels like it should be much deeper for better balance. It is quite shallow, making it easier to tip over and it doesn't hug the body.
