  • Good unit
Easy to install, and works well. I installed the transmitter under the trim panel of my rear hatch, and the receiver behind my head unit. Video is on instantly, and is clear with no static.

  • So far so good, pleasantly surprised that it's working well
Overall I'm very happy with this and the price is unbeatable. It's working pretty well with my new Sony head unit. There is a little bit of static in the video occasionally but considering I paid around $40 total for a camera and this wireless rig I'm calling it a big win. Mine is at the back of a long crew cab pickup and I didn't want to try to run wires from the cab to the back. ... show more

  • Avoid transmitter/receiver antennas touching metal; stay within range of transmission
Finally got around to installing this receiver/transmitter kit. I had a repair done to the car and the backup camera wasn't working after I got it back. The problem was either a broken video cable or a faulty camera. I saw this kit on Amazon and decided to try it because I was not in the mood to run another video cable to test. The installation was easy. The transmitter connects to the backup camera. The receiver connects to the head unit. Read also the head unit manual to see how to connect the wire for the trigger for automatic switching to the backup camera when the vehicle is put in reverse. The challenge was in testing the kit. I have a hatchback. I placed the transmitter on the inside of the trunk door, just below the bottom middle of the back windscreen, in a cavity and not letting the antenna touch any metal behind the cover hiding the electronics. Placing the receiver behind the head unit results in the receiver getting no signal from the transmitter. I placed the receiver to the right of the head unit (due to space constraints and fortunately mainly plastic in that area) and got a stable, sharp and clean picture from the camera. The signal is wireless so you might get interference at some point from an external source in close proximity to the transmitter/receiver kit. But for the most part you should get a distortion free picture from the transmitter to the receiver. The key points to remember are: 1) do not let the antennas of both the transmitter and receiver touch any metal parts as this will affect the signal transmission 2) do not place the receiver behind the head unit because the head unit, being metal, will block the signal from reaching the receiver and you won't get any picture from the backup camera 3) the receiver does not have to be in direct line of sight of the transmitter but within the operating parameters of the kit I am very pleased with this kit and would recommend it ... show more

  • nice concept..more problems than it worth
worked erratically for the first week.sometimes perfectly clear ..other times grainy...seems like anything wirelessly controlled interferes with the signal like convivence store alarms and other wireless signals seems to create a problem..put in reverse..start backing out of a spot close to the building "no signal"..10 ft from the building..it seems to catch a slight signal..screen starts to flicker..grainy at best. now it's a steady "no signal"..took the dash apart "again" to make sure the receiver is powered and the transmitter are powered and camera were powered..yup..just not worth the effort..$6 and I can buy a 32ft hardline lay under my truck run a wire 1 time and be done with it..gonna make nice paper weights i'll bet. ... show more

  • Too complicated
Was complicated to install ended up running the hard wire attaching it to the power supply and my back up camera worked fine. I was trying to avoid pulling wire thru some pretty tight spots.

  • Always on. No trigger wire.
Always on. There is no accessory wire like the instructions show to trigger the backup wire on your radio. So it's always on. Would work great for a front facing camera or if you have a trailer and have the ability to manually select a camera on your radio. But those hoping for it to come on only while backing up, you are out of luck ... show more

  • Ok So Far, Easy to install
So far so good. 3 stars because it's only been installed for a say and I have a fuzzy picture at times. It's easy to install and I am using it on a Ford E150 Conversion Van, its mounted in rear door behind the panel by the license plate bracket. and the receiver is mounted under the dash by the steering column. I think i am picking up interference and will mess with it to see what I can do. If I can get it going better I will up date my review. Update 11/27/2017 Update from 3 stars to 5. Great customer service. After my initial review the manufacturer contacted me suggesting it may be the transmitter as it was inside my rear door. I had enough slack in the line so I re routed the transmitter so it was right next to my door handle on the rear door. So the transmitter is now inside the van and it gets a great signal now with no interference so far. Time will tell but it gets a great picture right now with the engine running. ... show more
