That "C" shaped gimbel is flimsy, weak, and worthless; it is also too expensive for a thin piece of plastic that wiggles when a small video camera is placed on top of it. I wasted my money buying it. Amazon.com shouldn't sell expensive deceiving items like that. I feel cheated. The description did not mention it was made of plastic. I wanted a gimble made of aluminum but the description often does not mention what material are they made off. ... show more

Within 15 minutes of attaching a camera to this thing, I had to call someone – who probably had no interest in what I was telling them – to tell them how legit this thing is. I just felt silly standing around my house exclaiming “What?! I can’t even believe this!” to myself. I’ve got a small project coming up that is going to require some faster moving tracking shots on an athletic field. I have been trying to dial in our FeiyuTech G6 Max for the task, but I felt that it just wasn’t giving me what I wanted when I moved a little quicker (I’m blaming myself, here, not the gimbal). I attached my setup to the Scorpion Jr and ran my same test shots and, boom, magic! The ability to dial in the center of mass is impressive for such a simple rig. Once dialed in, it's pretty easy to capture flowing shots a bit closer to the ground as long as some reasonably light footwork is employed. The designed-in shock absorbing properties are also super impressive. You get almost no bounce or wag from side to side while still avoiding heavy slams up and down. The three-way cold shoe is great. Each shoe has a built-in friction-based system that ensures a solid fit. The overall three-way head can also be adjusted a bit to provide a little versatility. I was given the opportunity to review this item without having to pay for it. I was not paid to review it, just given the item to review. I am so glad that I was. I don’t think that I ever would have thought that something so simple would be worth its salt. Even after I agreed to review it, I wasn’t expecting much because it is currently so reasonably priced. How foolish I was! Now that I’ve laid hands on this thing, I would have happily paid to have this in my gear bag. For almost anyone shooting video on a budget with a smaller camera, I think not picking one of these up borders on unreasonable. I’m not saying that it’s a cure all, as I’ll still be using the G6 Max for shots held from about my waist up, but, for quicker shots that I’ll need to hold from about my belly button down, this little number is going to frequently displace a $250 piece of equipment. Really amazing. I highly recommend it! I included a couple of photos to provide some context on size. The media could not be loaded. I like to film and take pictures. I have a DJI Gimbal, but I needed something I could do shots where it could be somewhat smooth movements without having to keep my arm totally still. Enter the Scorpion Jr. by Cam Caddie. This camera stabilizer allows for me to take video smoothly without a lot of movement. Also, it mounts everything from a standard DSLR to a GoPro to your smartphone (with the right attachments). It is lightweight, has a soft grip, and the ability to attach microphones, LED lights, and other accessories you would need! They even provide a few nifty stickers (WHO DOESN'T LIKE STICKERS?!?!). It's a simple product that checks all the boxes. It's made of hard plastic but it has felt on the feet so that you can put it down on delicate things without scratching (like the hood of your car). The rubber that makes contact with your equipment is tough and grippy. It has three cold shoes, which are removable if you don't need them. Often simple things like this don't come with instructions. This one didn't. That didn't bother me because looking at the box, I saw that one of the hand-tightened screws is for the cold shoe attachment. The other hand-tightened screw, I wasn't sure about. There were only two places it could go. I guessed the correct one even though at first, it didn't seem to have a purpose. On closer inspection, it's to lock the base to the handle so there is no chance of them coming apart. Why couldn't they just say that somewhere? There are three places to string a strap (lanyard, etc.), and while I don't know why I would want to do that, it's better to have them than not. ... show more
