We needed a blender that was bigger than one of those personal smoothie makers, and this one was on several "best of" lists for this price range of blenders. The top fits securely, the pitcher is plastic so it's light, but it's also sturdy and durable. The blades are VERY sharp. The reason this loses a star is because when you clean it thoroughly, you have to separate the blade housing into 3 parts. It is difficult to do without poking or cutting yourself on the blades. BE CAREFUL. Other than that... the settings make things easy (smoothie and frozen drink, haven't used the others yet), it has more than enough power for our needs, and is easy to operate. Quick cleaning is also quite easy (again, BE CAREFUL of the blades). It wasn't mentioned in the description (that I saw) but you store the cord under the base. There is a "post" that you manually wrap the cord around and then tuck in the plug. It's a minor thing for some people, but I hate dangling cords from the back of appliances, and I really appreciate having a way to tuck it out of the way. Absolutely love it, and for the price, I would recommend it for sure. (Also makes a nice housewarming type of gift... if you like someone more than $50 but less than $100) ... show more

Personally I prefer using this on pulse mode, but unlike other blenders I've used the presets actually do a good job at what they're labeled for.

I was looking for a quieter blender. I LOVE! that this blender has 4 settings from Low to High. At the lower settings the blender is pretty quiet. I haven't had any problem blending frozen bananas and strawberries at these settings. I was looking for a blender with more capacity that the standard smoothy maker.
