Excellent experience, received the club a day sooner than expected, club looked almost new. Went to the driving range, then played a round of golf a few days later, it works well, ball flight and distance improved over my old 3 wood.

Callaway Mavrik! A few years old but still full of great technology! Bought in here on Amazon for $80 including tax, couldn't beat it. Looked around quite a bit and it was by far the best deal, quick shipping. Some of the other clubs I considered (comparables) were $25 to $50 more and probably not in as good a shape as this one. The face looked like it has never been hit, the top had a couple of little marks (no pop up marks just smudges) the bottom was good overall.     • Don't like how Callaways FEEL? I didn't either...
I've been playing Ping drivers for years and always said I never hit a Callaway driver I liked, mostly based on feel. I played (and loved) the Anser, G30, and G400, all of which have a very satisfying feel and sound when you hit them in the middle of the face, which is good and bad. It's good because you get plenty of feedback and can immediately tell when you've flushed one, but bad because you're gonna lose ball speed on off-center hits. The Mavrik's sound and feel are more muted. More of a "thud" than a crisp "whack." So you don't get as much feedback, but having hit all of these clubs on simulators, the difference is pretty remarkable in terms of performance numbers. With my swing speed of around 98, my ball speed is typically around 140. When I miss the middle of the face with my Pings, the ball speed drops to the low 120s. But with the Mavrik, it stays closer to 140, which means the ball might go a little higher or lower, but I'm not losing much distance. Simply, it means the Mavrik is longer and straighter. Having hit it MANY times now, I'm starting to feel the difference between center and off-center hits, enough feedback such that I'm not missing that satisfying "whack" from my Pings at all anymore. Loved this club so much I got the wife a new Mavrik Max driver, and a 4 wood and 4 hybrid to replace all the Ping woods/hybrids in my bag, and we're loving all of these clubs! Ordered in "good" condition and was probably in very good condition. Some reviewers indicate 10 yards longer in distance--in my experience, can say at least 10 yards longer than prev club. I been playing golf over 60 yrs (age 70) and was very surprised how easy to hit. I also have Maverick driver and equally pleased---Amazon's usually good customer service. ... show more

$185 new! I opted for used/demo for $125. Received wood .....looks almost new/perfect. Labels still attached and only one ball mark on face. For the money saving difference...better option for me!! I played it once and love it! Nice upgrade in bag.
