Amazing set for beginners. I started taking lessons in December and I wasn’t ready to commit to this sport, so I bought this set. For $500 including the bag, it’s a great value for money. Irons are great quality and forgiving but the only problem is the driver, that is too soft and light. I’m still terrible with it, but I’d probably buy a good used one in the next months once I get better. ... show more

Just getting back into golf after being away for 15 years, and two shoulder surgeries. Wanted a decent intermediate set of clubs that didn't cost an arm and a leg especially since I wasn't sure how my repaired shoulder would hold up to swinging the clubs again. I found this set during amzins prime day and pulled the trigger on buying them with the very big discount and I am so happy I did. These clubs look fantastic, they feel great in your hands, and feel great when you swing them. We went to the range and gpt a super bucket (about 75 balls) and after a few tentative swings to see how it felt I started putting the hammer down and these clubs just performed great for me. I've never been a great or even good golfer, but I was hitting pretty straight and with decent distance. The balance and weight are on par with some of the top of the line (and price) of the big names put there. My friends are serious golfers and spend 1000's of dollars on their gear and they were taking swings with my clubs and they were all impressed. The color scheme on the bag and clubs is really nice looking. I didn't feel like an outsider loading up the clubs into the cart and driving the course. I will be filling out the bag with the clubs I need like a sand wedge and some of the heavier irons that did not come in the set. I will be buying the matching clubs for the set. If you are looking for a nice set, that is affordable, and durable I would recommend these. Likewise said I'm just a guy who wants to go smack some balls with my friends and have no real aspirations in golf except to have fun and improve a little bit each time I go. ... show more

This Callaway Strata Ultimate golf set is amazing! As a beginner getting serious about the game, I couldn’t be happier with the quality and variety in this 16-piece set. It includes everything needed to get started – driver, woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, and a putter, all well-made and easy to handle. The clubs feel balanced, forgiving, and give great control, which has really helped improve my game. Plus, the included bag is sturdy, lightweight, and has plenty of pockets for storage. Let me first start off by saying that for the price and what you are buying; you cant beat it. I ordered mine when they were $200 and I played my first course yesterday with them. This is my review as a beginner keep in mind: Look and Feel: Visually, these clubs are simple and do not have a lot of flare to them but that is something I like. There is no Callaway branding on them and the bag simply has Strata on the side. Not a problem for me, but I know that was a complaint among avid golfers. The clubs I received are sturdy and feel okay in the grip. The grips are comprised of this rubber like material and I found initially as I was testing them out at the driving range, my grip would slip as my hands got clammy. Wearing a glove fixed this issue when I played on the course but it is something to keep in mind when you buy them. Use on the Course: The driver I have problems with but that is most likely due to that I am a beginner. The irons are pretty standard and work as intended. The 5 Hybrid club really shines though and I found that after driving, this was my go to to get the ball on the green. The putter is okay, I have used others that feel better to me as I used them. This obviously is preference based and others may find the putter to be great. I will probably upgrade the putter. Overall: Overall, I highly recommend these clubs as a great starter set. The driver and 5H are forgiving for the beginner which is great so that the beginner, like me, can improve their game without much cost to the game on the course. For the money, you cannot escape the great value that come with these clubs. As a beginner to the game, I give the clubs a 5/5 and highly recommend. ... show more

I purchased this set to try the game of golf out. When I received the set I was impressed with the value for the money. The clubs are well built (Strata is made by Callaway) and includes pretty much everything you need to get out on the course outside of balls and tees. The grips are decent, and pretty comfortable. The clubs some mostly with steel shafts, with the exception of the driver, which has a graphite shaft. The irons in this set are pretty good. They offer good feedback through your hands whether you have hit it well or not, and as long as you have the club face square and put a decent swing on it, will go plenty long and straight. There are a couple things I added/upgraded rather quickly. 1st, the only wedge that comes in this set is a pitching wedge, which is fine, but adding a set of wedges helps a ton around the greens. 2nd, the shaft on the driver is extremely flexy. As a bigger guy who also plays slowpitch, I have a decent swing speed. Unfortunately this is not a great fit for someone like me, and I upgraded to a Cobra Rad XB recently. For many new golfers, this driver will be more than fine to get going with. Overall this is a great starter set to test the waters with if you're interested in playing golf. ... show more
