  • Problem at first but fixed with some help
This is the worst item I have bought. I have tried everything to get it to connect to my Thunderbolt enabled ASUS Zenbook but the computer does not recognize it. Trying to connect anything through this product doesn't connect. It is worthless and too late to return. After I connected with CalDigit about my problem, I realized I had set the hub up wrong. Once I corrected my mistake, it works great. ... show more

  • Just works
You get what you pay for. This thing just works. I've been trying different cables, adapters etc to try and get dual 4K monitors to work on my 2021 MacBook M1 Pro and was getting flickering etc. This device just simply works and somehow only uses one USB-C port.

  • Excellent Thunberbolt 4 Dock
I've tried numerous Thunderbolt 4 Docks. Most worked for a while but then starting having issues with monitors not being connected, usb 10G adapters not working and even my keyboard would work until I reboopted the dock. Some of the TB4 dock would only work if I follow a procedure. The CalDigit has been extremely reliable and all my devices continues to work as expected. This is my favorite TB4 dock, and will continue to recommend it to others as well. ... show more

  • Runs UAD Apollo X4 and pair of Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra's at 4k
This review was written immediately after opening the box and testing for what I needed. Will update if needed but for now, it seems like it does what I need. I have a laptop with a single TB3 port (Dell XPS-15 9550) and wanted to use that as a mobile podcasting system. Glad to report that I am getting low latency audio out of my Apollo X4 (64 samples at 48khz) and 4k 30fps video out of my 2 Kiyo ProUltra's via this device. I had a Dell ThunderBolt 4 Dock (WD22TB4) for my work laptop but I didnt want to have to disconnect that (and then reconnect it) to borrow it every time for podcasting stuff. The CalDigit hub gave me more C-type and A-type ports which is what I needed in order to properly connect everything I needed (mouse dongle, streamdeck, soundcard, webcams, etc). The Dell would work well too but this gives me what I need and none of the extras I dont need (display ports, hdmi, ethernet). The big advantage of the CalDigit over the Dell peripherial is 1 extra USB port and half the size. The only thing was that my Dell XPS15 bios complained about the 65w power coming from the CalDigit being too low, though during testing over a few hours, I did not notice the battery losing power at all (laptop was running in "high power" mode while being charged through the CalDigit via the TB port). Its not a terrible extra step to have to plug in the laptop but you know, less stuff is less stuff. I will update on this if needed. EDIT: Used this with my rig this weekend and a few notes. I did need to plug in my laptop if I ran it on "high power" mode. The battery did drain slowly and the CPU did throttle itself as if it were just running on the battery. Plugging the laptop in isnt a big deal but its worth mentioning. The UAD X4 was sometimes unrecognized. I would need to restart the laptop and the hardware in order to get a proper handshake. Not sure if this is a limitation of the TB4 hub, the laptop or my X4 but in general when using my X4 on my desktop, it always gets recognized without fail. Again, not a big deal but worth mentioning. I always restart after Im done setting everything up just to be sure I have a fresh system but sometimes I needed to do that 2 or 3 times until I got the X4's status bar to show up and let me know it was recognized. Restarting the X4 while the computer remained running wouldnt fix the issue. I have a feeling it was the laptops fault as I saw the Windows notivication (error message) that TB was not recognized. The TB application would show the hub but it wouldnt show the X4. The cameras were always recognized without issue. USB dongles for my keyboard and mouse were always quick to respond and didnt drop out. Elgato Streamdeck worked fine as well. ... show more

  • Fast hub, power jack could have a more snug fit
The USB Hub is fast with an external NVME drive. It stopped working and I was able to get it running again reseating the power cable to the hub. The power jack doesn't tale much resistance, so the it must have come loose when unplugging drive.

  • random display disconnects, can't extend a single or dual displays reliably.
Purchased this unit to extend two monitors on a 2019 MBP 16" running Sequoia 15.4 currently running a single monitor. Experiencing strange intermittent color issues with one monitor while both are connected, one seems to drop to 256 colors. Also intermittently, one of the monitors will drop out as if it is going to sleep. Switched to a single monitor, color issue went away, but dropout issue still persists. swapped monitors, same issue. tried various resolutions on both monitors, still drops out. I have to reset the cable between the unit and my MBP to regain the connection each time. Sometimes it will work fine for hours, sometimes it will dropout within a few minutes. By dropout I mean the display will go blank and will cycle through the inputs looking for a valid source to connect to. The displays (monitors) I am using are fine. Never had any issues with them prior to connecting the CalDigit unit. I purchased it due to the good reviews and it was offered next day delivery. This could just be a bad unit, but I am going to look for a proper thunderbolt multi-display unit. I would send this back, but I believe I've exceeded the return date. For reference I'm using a 2019 MBP 16" running macos 15.4, 1 LG SQ700s, and 2 Acer EDA320Q-P displays with HDMI to USB-C cables. ... show more
