This REEL is the real deal, if you are looking to up your game? This CADENCE ROD&REEL COMBO will do just that and seriously I have looked high and low and everywhere in between but for this price range you won't find anything that comes close. Actually you will have to spend at least 2 & 1/2 the CADENCE price to even compete and could easily spend up to 4x the money and not get the same performance from your hard earned cash! I am not the person who is going to write a review before I have put the merch to the test, and with this CADENCE ROD&REEL COMBO I GOT to the (TESTING)[reel] quick. My AWESOME WIFE bought this combo for me in mid OCT. for my birthday present! I actually got the package the day before my birthday and that weekend took my CADENCE CR7 (5-10 med-fast)with the CS10 reel and some jigs to the river and got to (WORK) the very 1st BRONZEBACK I stuck with my CADENCE COMBO was a 20 3/4 inch[4.2lb] SHERMAN TANK:) my PB. On about my 10th cast, I was working a spot next to a set of rapid's and some cut bank with a cache of boulders. 1st cast in this spot she came out and inhaled my jig:) The CADENCE equipment HANDLED that Smallmouth in such a way, as that I was sold on this Brand being my new( GO TO) finesse tools.I was easily able to pull her out of that huge rock pile and keep her out of the swift current seam that was within 1 foot or maybe 1&1/2 ft from there and do it in such a way that My confidence was growing by the second during this fight, SERIOUSLY but still I continued to fish that week hardcore and really even during one of the slowest FALL bites I have ever seen I was able to make sure my 1st impression was accurate I caught several more smallies and some other species but 4 days after I stuck that 1st behemoth I stuck another 1 (20&1/4in [4.4lb]) in the exact same spot on the exact same jig only difference was that this 1 came smoking out of the boulders and she did make it into the current seam and this TOAD was fighting like a pit bull, but that did not matter my CADENCE CR7 and CS10 was able to easily bring her out of the current and into my net:)! so yes I was sure within that 1st week that this CADENCE COMBO was my kind of stuff, but I had to wait and see how their customer service was so I could do a total review, you see my CS10 had arrived with some minor paint defects on the handle and when I contacted CADENCE they said no problem we will send you another reel and by gosh they did just that and this one had no defects at all. Honestly I just wanted them to send another handle, and to say they went above and beyond would be an understatement! I now have 2 CANDENCE COMBO's the (5-10 med-fast the 6-3 med light-extra fast) both with the CS10 reels. So my finesse game is now on point! The packages always arrive quickly and are superbly packaged! I am serious about my 5star rating for CADENCE spinning equipment! Plus I love their give back program for youth, so whatever you decide to do is up to you, but my hard earned money will be going to CADENCE! Edit from wife: The max drag does not come at 36 lbs from the manufacturer. When I asked about that, the Cadence representative told me I could change that with a "wrench". I requested further info and direction on that to no avail. The 36 lb max drag was the main selling point for my husband, and although he says this combo can "handle anything in our river", I feel as though this should be mentioned. ... show more

This was the 5th cadence reel I have bought. I now have two vigors and three essence reels in left and right hand retrieve and different ratios. Out of the box they a very good, but not quite as refined as an SLX. Meaning the bearings on the cadence reels have to be worked in a little bit to loosen up. On all my reels I will disassemble and add my own oil. Once I did this I had a $40+ reel that compares to the mid level shimanos. All of these come with carbon fiber washers out of the box and are very smooth. The cast control is perfect and adjusts just as well as any other reel I have had and comes with the bonus of not having to remove anything and flip magnets. If there is a downside compared to what some folks feel is important, it’s the composite material body. For me, this is more of an upsell feature than a critical feature for my fishing. I use the Cadence vigor reel for frogging and punching and have zero issues with flex or roll of the reel. Is there a chance that a composite body reel could twist and crack, I’d say about a snowballs chance if the reel is seated properly and secure. Even if these are used for steelhead and smaller salmon I would have no problem using them for side drifting, trolling plugs, or back bouncing. Bottom line, my opinion is these are better than the JDM shimano reels like the bass rise or bass one xt out of the box. After I remove the spool and add the oil I like and break those bearings in, it’s just as good as an SLX at 1/3 the price. If you want to try baitcasting then these are your reels because it won’t break the bank and you will not need to upgrade. If you are experienced and just want a solid reel to add to the rack, grab the vigor or CB8. ... show more

    • Pretty good, but Not amazing.
Fairly smooth, but not particularly lightweight. It being made of "magnesium" (of which seems low% just enough so they could put it in the description) should have made it very lightweight. To compare it to a Piscifun torrent X? much better. Compared to a $70 Daiwa Legalis LT? not really. Good features and decent build quality. Not sure why you would want 25lbs of drag on a 2000 size reel. I am not using 25lb line or heavier, so reel just wants to break line, which is dumb. Lets break down why i rated 3 stars. Lets start with some Cons: Gear material is aluminum - average / expected at this price point, but won't last with 25lbs of drag Frame material is "magnesium" - really doesn't reduce weight at all, i have a strong feeling it is mostly aluminum with magnesium alloy. Handle is Eva which is not ideal. Reel seat is a bit small (thickness, letting it rattle when reel seat is tight) Pro's: Stiff frame (no flex even with a decent fish) Click open bail (i know it seem lame, but i REALLY dislike it on Daiwa reels) Looks, it looks great. Smoothness, quite smooth, especially for it's price. It's not a Stradic but also 1/2 the price. Line lay is quite adequate (still not Shimano, but pretty good) Bail doesn't snap close while casting (DAIWA DAMN YOU) Pretty good for it's price, although the Daiwa legalis [Cheaper] (except the non-clicking bail) is smoother and has lower startup inertia and is lighter. if debating between this and Piscifun Torrent X? Piscifun is lighter, but is not good. The gears are terrible and even after a 2-3 lb tilapia got grindy. This is a much better quality reel. At it's price, i just cannot give 5 stars. if this reel was $75? yes. It would be a 5 star product. ... show more
