Description

Cable Matters, with headquarters in Southborough, Massachusetts, offers a complete line of cables, adapters, docking stations, and networking products for the home, office, and data center. Cable Matters offers first-class, quality, and affordable products backed by an exceptional customer experience. Visit the Store Visit the Store Does this cable work from HDMI to DisplayPort? No. This cable is unidirectional and works only from a DisplayPort (DP/DP++) source to an HDMI display. It will not work from HDMI ports on game consoles, TVs, or laptops to a DisplayPort monitor. Can this cable output 4K? No. This cable supports up to 1080p Full HD. For 4K output, use our 4K DP to HDMI cable (ASIN B01672IR6I / Model No. 102013). Will this cable work with my DisplayPort computer? It's a passive cable and works with most DP computers supporting DP++ signal (Dual-Mode). For those with DP signal only (no DP++), an active DP to HDMI adapter (ASIN B00EDT0072 / Model No. 102021) is required. Why am I getting no signal or a black screen? Confirm you are using a true DisplayPort output, not HDMI, USB, or Mini DisplayPort. Ensure the HDMI end is connected to the HDMI input port on the monitor/display. • Cable end proves easy to damage.
Size: 6 Feet Style: 1-Pack
UPDATE: My original review is below. I've increased my rating to 5-Stars because of the stellar customer service exhibited by Cable Matters. Although I did have an issue, as I said in my original review, I was unsure if the product itself was at fault. Cable Matters contacted me soon after my review offering to replace the product at no charge. When I accepted the offer, they shipped a new cable immediately. Since I had damaged the original cable, I did what I'd normally NOT do and attempted to damage the replacement cable in the same way as the original cable. I found the cable ends to be VERY solidly built and able to withstand substantial lateral pressure without the slightest movement within the housing. The cable has worked flawlessly for over a month since I received the replacement. This is the kind of service that gains my respect and loyalty in a product. ANY product can be damaged or defective. Having once been involved in quality control in an earlier profession, I can say that without reservation. It's how the company responds to the damage or defect that speaks to its integrity. I will be buying cables from Cable Matters in the future without the slightest concern about the quality of the product or the integrity of the company! - Paul ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have little to say about this product. I plugged it into an HDMI port on the side of a TV Screen, then leaned around it to plug the DP end into a computer. When I moved back, the HDMI end was damaged beyond repair. It was obvious I somehow put pressure on the plug or cord causing the damage. For what it's worth, I didn't feel any pressure so I'm thinking it didn't take much to cause the damage. Note: Previous Cable Matters products have been of good quality and reliable. ... show more

  • Worked as promised
Size: 10 Feet Style: 1-Pack
Date purchased: 20 Feb. 2012. Price Paid: $14.99 For me this 10 feet length was the right length. Not too long and not very short. Just enough to easily get my laptop connected on the coffee table in front of my TV. My HP laptop has DP++ port which supports Audio. And this cable worked as promised. I can stream the audio from my laptop on the TV (and to my home theater via TOSlink optical out from TV to A/V receiver.) One important point to note is if your display port is just the native DP and not the DP++ version then you won't get the audio transmission from the laptop. Next, the cable also has to support the audio transmission. Since the Audio capability is mentioned in the description for this cable, this part is taken care of. This cable is sturdy and seems to be of good quality. I saw another from the 'Buycheapcables" which was $2.50 cheaper than this but that cable did not have any reviews. I guess they both might be similar but I chose this because I didn't want to take any risk. It seems many DisplayPort side connectors on such type of cables come out or get damaged...(DisplayPort connectors have locking mechanism and people may not be realizing this) I will see how long mine works. I am always careful when I disconnect the DP side by fully pressing the disengaging tab on the connector. So far so good for $15 I paid for this cable. Will update whenever something bad happens with this cable. The seller "Cable Matters" did provide me with a good service. ... show more

  • works like a charm
Size: 6 Feet Style: 1-Pack
I purchased this cable in order to watch content from my Lenovo T410 laptop on a HD TV. The laptop has a DisplayPort (DP++) output and the TV has HDMI input. Simply by connecting the ends of this cable to my laptop and TV, I had an 720p HD image of my laptop screen almost instantly. However, there was no audio. The lack of audio was *not* due to any flaw in the cable. In the process of troubleshooting, I saw several websites which simply blamed this sort of no-audio problem on a "cheap cable" -- but, while this cable is certainly inexpensive (which is one of the reasons I got it!), it has no trouble carrying audio (and very clear audio, at that). I eventually found a Lenovo forum which held the answer: "First go to your audio settings by going FN + F6, choose 'Audio Defaults + Settings'. Then choose your TV as the default audio." This did the trick for me -- I instantly had audio (both through the laptop speakers and the HD TV). The poster on the Lenovo forum also had this piece of advice (which I never followed, since the first step solved the problem for me): "Now the sneaky part. Push FN + F7 and choose 'Projector Only', then sound will come out of the TV. Took me forever to figure out." Again, I had no need to do this, but I'm re-posting it in case someone else does. In summary, after some fiddling with my cpu's settings, this cable delivered all that was promised: crystal clear audio and visual from my laptop to my HD TV. Note: I have only used the cable on a handful of occasions during the past few weeks, so I'm not in a good position to evaluate its durability. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, when the DisplayPort end connects to the computer, it "latches" into place, and a small panel must be pressed in order to release it -- this "release latch" doesn't feel like the most sturdy thing in the world, but it hasn't given my any problems so far, and handled gently, I would imagine that it will continue to function just fine. ... show more

  • Do not buy Gold Plated DisplayPort to HDTV Cable 15 Feet, get DisplayPort 1.2 to HDTV Cable Supporting 4K 10 Feet instead!
Size: 15 Feet Style: 1-Pack
NOVEMBER 2015 UPDATE: I gave Cable Master one more shot and not regret it at all. My first cable was Gold plated version and it's absolutely crap one. You can read review on it below this post. In short version - bad picture and no way to get a sound out of computer to TV. Then I decided to try DisplayPort 1.2 to HDTV Cable Supporting 4K 10 Feet and it works like a charm. Don't even have to touch GC or audio settings - seconds after it was connected to TV I got clear and sharp picture and sound. Would love to get 15ft instead of 10 just in a case, but then you click on 15ft version it switched to crappy "Golden Plated" one. Will keep looking for a longer one. Pros: works right out of box, clear and sharp picture AND sound. No problems whatsoever. Cons: None so far. 4 stars only because of first purchase and waste of time. JULY 2015 OLD REVIEW ABOUT Cable Matters® Gold Plated DisplayPort to HDTV Cable 15 Feet - do not buy it! Got this cable 'cos it was only one on Amazon 15ft long DP to HDMI. I have 750Ti GC and was hopping to get a Samsung TV as 3rd monitor through DP port to watch movies, netflix etc etc. Well, it's not worked out this way. Picture quality not even close to what I did expect, less saturated, less brighter, less everything compare to picture I have when connecting computer to TV directly hdmi-to-hdmi. But the worst part is - this cable DID NOT gave me any audio. At all. It wasn't recognized by sound panel in Win 7 AND audio in Nvidia control panel. Spend hour and half with techsupp from both Gygabite and Nvidia, checked every and any settings, run tests and everything was working perfect - as soon as this cable is disconnected. So be aware - there is a chance you'll get such a crap cable and didn't get ANY promised "...high-definition ... flawless audio..." AT ALL. Will return it tomorrow. Pros: NONE. And c'mon, guys! "Golden plated" is sooo 90's. Or somewhere still people who believed in it?:O) Cons: EVERYTHING. Bad picture, NO audio, crap quality. ... show more

  • Simply because the price is usually better and its just more convenient
Size: 15 Feet Style: 1-Pack
These days there are very few things that I actually go to the store and buy. I mostly order things online. Simply because the price is usually better and its just more convenient. Cables are one of those things I usually go to the store and purchase so that I can physically see the cable that I am ordering. There are just so many manufacturers that produce different types of cables of different qualities and repackage and relabel them for specific retailers. You just never really know the level of quality you are getting from cables you order online. Its on of these hit and miss things. Some cables though. Especially conversion cables of a specific length. You just have to order online, because you will be hard pressed to find them in the stores. My point is that these cable matters cables are quality made for their price point. This is my second time purchasing them and you plug them in and forget about them they work so well. The wire terminals seem to be solid and the connection terminals themselves seem to be well made. I do like that these specific cables are fairly thin and cable matters ever has thinner cables in certain connections, called the Ultra Slim cables. So its nice to know where the brand of cables that I can purchase online with out having to worry about if they are good cables or not. Trying to drudge through the thousands and thousands of different cable brands online and look at reviews is just a head ache. I will still be purchasing my cables in the store for the most part, because cables are one of those things that I usually dont know I need right up until I need it, but when the need arrises for me to order my cables online, Cable Matters will definitely be my go to. ... show more

  • My Mistake - Wrong Cable For Me
Size: 10 Feet Style: 1-Pack
I was excited to find what I thought was the right product - my PC (video card is the Nvidia GTX680) has an HDMI port and I wanted to use that for my second monitor (Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" LED LCD Monitor that I just bought here on Amazon) which I *THOUGHT* had HDMI but actually has Display Port but no HDMI. No problem, I thought if I got an adapter for HDMI to Display Port all my problems would be solved. Alas, when the cable arrived and I excitedly connected everything up - no joy. Neither the computer nor the monitor recognized each other - now I know why, but was upset with the cable initially. Apparently I was using this cable BACKWARDS from how it can only be used. I guess I didn't know enough to know that the data only flows in ONE direction with this cable! And I understand it is not the cable's fault but rather the way Display Port works that is the issue. I gave it 5 stars because in reading the reviews I discovered that most people are very happy with the cable but a couple of us got stung by our own ignorance which is NOT the fault of this company. Still, maybe it would have been nice to see a much more prominent announcement of this fact for those of us who don't "already know everything". It clearly states this in the description, but in the midst of a bunch of other text. Maybe a large blinking red warning would have done the trick. HA HA! Ah well, we buy, we learn. I found out my GTX680 also has a Display Port out so I ordered a new 'normal' Display Port cable and am happy to report that everything works just perfect. ... show more
