Description

Buyers Products DTR Series Dump Tarp Kits are built for simple dump body and dump trailer tarp applications. The durable extruded aluminum tarp roller telescopes to the exact width of your truck. The heavy duty tarps feature brass grommets with reinforced, double-stitched hems. Solid vinyl tarps are rated to 400ºF. Each tarp has a standard sewn-in rear pocket to fit an optional anti-sail retention bow (sold separately). All kits include: mesh tarp, 7 in. folding crank with detent, tarp roller, a 20 ft pull-rope, rope tie down hooks, mounting brackets, and two rubber tarp straps with S-hooks.

I just finished installing the cover kit from Buyers Products which is made by KYM Industries. I'll say the box had some shipping damage when I received it and I called KYM industries and a nice lady that spoke perfect english located in the USA answered to help me. Great USA cased customer service. I'll add that I screwed my 3 bars together using several of the pan head screws provided. In hindsight I think I was supposed to use the HEX head screws and only put 2 screws instead of all 8 that I used. Just something to note. PROS: -Fits the width of the dump trailer perfectly -roll up system and latch works well -the bungee hold down works ok and the anti sail bar might be worth buying -all the included hardware was good quality -fast and easy to deploy and store CONS: -installation instructions are terrible. No detailed pictures and hard to understand -box came damaged with parts sticking out -I had one grommet fall out which was easily repaired but worth noting ... show more

The first thing was, it did not come with any installation instructions. It was difficult to find the proper instructions even after calling the distributor where the product originated from. If you don't have a decent amount of mechanical aptitude you should stay away from this product. The way they attached the crank handle was an absolute joke. The two set screws that are used to hold the crank handle on to the tarp spindle shaft are in- capable of holding the handle for any length of time. There was a prior comment about after the third time using their trailer the crank handle fell off, some where? If you don't have a lot time to mess with making this tarp roller functional do yourself a favor, and don't buy it! ... show more

I got this as an open box item from Amazon for $85 because the packaging was damaged. Aside from one nut missing it was perfect. I chose to weld mine on and it was way to size properly . I cut the length about an inch and a half too short, so I could compress it to remove it should I ever need to for any reason. Then I just extended it and screwed together with the tarp retaining screws. After reading some reviews I did use red locktite on all the little Allen head set screws and instead of bolting the crank handle through, I pinned it with a hitch pin for easy removal and stow it in the battery box. I bought a fence/shade tarp for $21 and saved about $100 doing it this way as opposed to buying the complete kit. ... show more

The hand crank (3008176A) fell off the roller despite having tightened the set screw onto the shaft as tight as possible. This part is lost after only a short time of use. Now it is difficult to roll up the tarp without this piece. There should be something more than a set screw to hold this on, as you get a lot of vibration from trailers. I am hoping the seller can rectify this situation. If they send me a replacement, I will glue it on in addition to the set screw. ... show more

I am very disappointed , when looking at the picture of the cover it shows the rear bar kit installed on the cover . the first one I received didn't have it in the carton , I thought the carton was damaged and it fell out , also never had a instruction manual . The company sent another one to me and it had the manual but no rear bar kit . after looking at the instructions I found out that the rear bar kit is an option . If that's the case show that in the picture as an option . I would have ordered it as well at the time , but now I'm too upset . I called the company and the lady was no help at all .The product should not be illustrated with the bar kit on it unless its listed as an option . Now I have to run to the ups store and send back the original . ... show more

first time I used it the plastic crank came up missing. The crank is an assembly so you would expect the workmanship to be that it wouldn't fall apart and lose pieces on the road. The tarp and quality of construction... the way it works is all great but it ticks me off that I only used it once before losing part of it when I had to wait for nearly a month for it to arrive. Make sure you tighten the crank assembly after you get it. OK, this is an update, I looked up the outfit that made this item and on the same weekend I wrote the review above.... because I had not heard form them I did give them a bad rating. I have since changed the rating. They sent out a new handle that Monday and I did get it on Thursday... They have great support. ... show more

Works great. I installed it on a pull behind trailer and had to modify the mounts a bit but once installed makes covering up load very easy.
