I decided to start making my own leatherbound journals and books - so I purchased this since I honestly had no idea what I was getting into. This kit gets you started with every basic thing you need to get started as well as aide your creativity. The string is quite thick, so I didn't double up on it while stitching signatures, and it's pre-waxed so it helped reduce my frustration with stitching signatures for a first timer. I do wish it came with those big binder clips as keeping my signatures pinned down was an after-thought but overall truly lovely kit with quality tools.

I have only two grips with the kit. I am a complete noob at leather work. This kit would be better if it had a list of each tool and what its for/does. Secondly. It includes two pieces of leather, which is nice, but it would be better if it had a little beginners instruction on making something small....like a keychain or something, just for an example. Other than that, this kit is nice. Seems well worth the price and I would buy it again...just with a craft kit to go with it

Purchased these for my grandson. He is just starting out in working with leather. I did not want to spend a lot of money on "high end" leather tools, until I am sure he will follow up. So far so good, he likes the tools and is working away on leather. When he learns more I will upgrade. Very good for the person who wants a value starter kit.

Loved the quantity and diversity of the tools the kit comes with. Packaging and shipping was not very good, the pine box and hardware were already broken as if all the items were just crammed to fit. However the amazon box was in good shape so I assume this is from the shipping company. Hinges were broken, locks were stripped and unattached. Most of the tools seem in decent quality however one of the tooling knives was broken from the beginning. $300+ for this kit, I expected some care and quality. Haven’t used the tools yet, will update with pictures

It's seldom that I'm extremely happy with a product I buy. Most of the time I'm satisfied with the results of my product research and the product actually match. But for 40 bucks I was blown away with this kit. I'm a beginner and researched the various vendors who sold their product separately $10 here, 5 bucks there ETC. This kit has it all you need to start your leather crafting. I mean I'm so overly impressed at what I received for what I paid and the quality of tools and materials. Sharp and pointy edges all cardboard covered; every loose piece placed in small plastic bags. There are other kits comparable to this I'm sure. But for the price and quality of product; look no further. Great product, thank you

Kit comes with almost everything needed to start out. There are probably better tools for each application out there, but this is a great value if doing smaller one off projects in the spare time. The stamps are cool, but I found many to be useless for my application and some more helpful versions available separately (again still able to do 95% of what I wanted with the kit and some creative use of tools) Finally, it is almost necessary to buy a modeler stylus/spoon, tracing paper (if doing a design) and proper tooling leather as the kits leather isn't really suitable and doesn't have a tool for tracing. Overall happy, learned a lot and made a cool journal after some practice.

I bought this tool set for myself to start sewing leather things. Being complete beginner I just bought what I thought is good value for money. It actually is, becasu buying those tools one by one will be more expensive. But after using this set to make several projects and getting some understanding of how leather stuff is crafted I found that this set is missing some important tools to perform usual leathercrafting tasks. First of all, knife can cut only if 90 degrees to the leather, so you'll need some more versatile knife, like utility knife or head knife. Also I had to buy compass - tool for making stich lines is quite useless. Could not make a single straight line until bought a compass. Third thing missing are hole punchers. After making several projects I find them more important tools than stamps. Stamps are actually useless for beginner as stamping and tooling are advanced techniques and those who are after it should select and buy stamps separately. Also you'll buy a nylon mallet. Can't work without it. Iron hammer damages chissels, so deffenitely need to buy nylon one. Chisels are diamond shaped. I find them a bit difficult to work with on thin leather so I bought round ones. Burnisher is missing also, very needed tool to complete your crafts and make them more appleal. Metallic ruller also missing, very helpfull to cut leather straight and simple.
