Bought this after Izzo Swami stopped supporting their 4000+ model and I am very satisfied. Setup: Paring to my phone took several attempts but once done individual course updates are quick and easy. I don’t think updates are automated for courses you’ve played so it seems you have to manually select your course on the app and it will tell you if the course data is current or if not, it will perform a very quick update. This is a dream compared to waiting on a full 30,000+ course update for other devices I’ve had. Handling: The magnet is stronger than I expected and I have zero concern about it falling off a golf cart support bar. I don’t use the supplied clip as I’ve have bad experiences with ALL gps device clips. I did purchase a flexible generic screensaver sheet, cut it to near size, applied it and trimmed with an x-acto knife. Just being cautious as I’ve scratched previous devices on all the junk that resides in my golf bag pockets. Usage: Accuracy, battery life and display size and brightness all work well for my needs. Auto hole advance and is easily changed if necessary by toggling up/down button. I don’t use device scorekeeping as nothing is faster than a pencil. I haven’t yet used the app for course view but will for any new course. I was pleasantly surprised that layups and hazards were all available for the muni courses I play although the abbreviated code list (about 70 of them) is somewhat daunting. Wish List: I’d like to be able to mark a few of my own specific spots (a corner, a tree, top of hill etc) that may not necessarily be included as marked hazards. Storing this data separately could prevent it from being wiped out by course updates. Yes, I suppose I could open the app and use the course view…..But hey, I can dream can’t I ? Even for a basic device I was hoping a Bushnell product would deliver more features and functionality than the commoditized cheapo devices and this one certainly does. ... show more

I find this Bushnell GPS vastly superior to the range finders that are so popular. I suppose if I was a tour level golfer I might care about a yard or two.... but I'm not. I would describe myself as a "bogey" golfer. I can occasionally birdie and par holes, but then I like to mix in a 6 or 7 on a par 3, or a snowman on a par 4 to keep myself humble. With that in mind, this GPS has been perfect. I would say it easily has shaved 5 strokes off my round the first time I used it. Its as easy as pulling up beside your ball, and for me, just read the yardage to the middle of the green. I'm not good enough to worry about paces from the edge of the green. Just give me the yardage to the middle and let's go. I've also enjoyed using the feature that allows you to measure your drive distance. ... show more

When I bought this item, I figured it would be a companion to my Bushnell range finder. After using it a few times, I find myself using this to quickly check yardage, especially to the front of greens. A nice added bonus is that with a few clicks, it will provide yardage to specific landmarks, clear hazards, etc. This will be especially helpful on my upcoming trip to Pinehurst. ... show more

This works well. I was just looking for yardages, and this unit seems to be right on given the other yardage markers on the course. It does what it says, although I don't really use all of the functions available -- just yardages. If I had to complain, it would be about the update process. When I turn it on and select a course, a little message appears that it is updating. I don't know what it is updating, and the user manual is completely worthless in this regard. The manual talks about getting an app, connecting to bluetooth, registering your account, etc. etc. None of that worked for me. So, I assume that auto update (which is much easier to use) is working properly. ... show more

This is a good device to indicate front center and back of green yardage. You can also adjust pin placement and see hazards, but will slow you play pace. I use this device as an indicator and my range finder for specific yardage. Both are helpful and can speed up pace of play. This device is so easy to use! We got it for my 11 year old son who has now started in golf competitions on his own. He has a normal shooter but isn’t too great at use it and getting it accurate. Accuracy is very good. I often compare to my range finder and course markers. Even compared to the app with course maps. Just don’t forget it when it’s stuck to your golf cart roof bar like I did. I lost it this way, but recovered it after I bought another. Now I have 2! :)

The magnet holds well on the golf cart roof pillar. I got the bright orange and put my name on the back in case the 19th hole made me forget it. Bushnell has been around a long time and has a great product line.
