This product is awesome. I played with a guy at my course with the older version and loved how you could begin to prepare for your next shot as you approached. So, I bought this newer version and right out of the box - updated the firmware and courses for my local course. It is so convenient to use with the magnet. Yardage is spot on against any other GPS (phone, handheld, etc) but much more convenient. The hazard distances are spot on as well. Much prefer this versus having my phone out on each shot. Obviously not as convenient for path only, but still works great and with the magnet you can carry it with you to your ball (just remember it!). Battery lasts me around 4-5 rounds before it need a recharge, but I usually forget to turn it off so perhaps you can get more out of it. For the price, there is not much better! ... show more

Bought this after Izzo Swami stopped supporting their 4000+ model and I am very satisfied. Setup: Paring to my phone took several attempts but once done individual course updates are quick and easy. I don’t think updates are automated for courses you’ve played so it seems you have to manually select your course on the app and it will tell you if the course data is current or if not, it will perform a very quick update. This is a dream compared to waiting on a full 30,000+ course update for other devices I’ve had. Handling: The magnet is stronger than I expected and I have zero concern about it falling off a golf cart support bar. I don’t use the supplied clip as I’ve have bad experiences with ALL gps device clips. I did purchase a flexible generic screensaver sheet, cut it to near size, applied it and trimmed with an x-acto knife. Just being cautious as I’ve scratched previous devices on all the junk that resides in my golf bag pockets. Usage: Accuracy, battery life and display size and brightness all work well for my needs. Auto hole advance and is easily changed if necessary by toggling up/down button. I don’t use device scorekeeping as nothing is faster than a pencil. I haven’t yet used the app for course view but will for any new course. I was pleasantly surprised that layups and hazards were all available for the muni courses I play although the abbreviated code list (about 70 of them) is somewhat daunting. Wish List: I’d like to be able to mark a few of my own specific spots (a corner, a tree, top of hill etc) that may not necessarily be included as marked hazards. Storing this data separately could prevent it from being wiped out by course updates. Yes, I suppose I could open the app and use the course view…..But hey, I can dream can’t I ? Even for a basic device I was hoping a Bushnell product would deliver more features and functionality than the commoditized cheapo devices and this one certainly does. ... show more

This product is excellent for yardage on a golf course. Small and compact, it give very good yardage as compared to the more expensive GPS systems. I purchased this item because I put the one that I am now using in the wash. It is still working and I have this one as a back up. So much simpler and quicker than a visual range finder. It has worked very well on the three courses I play regularly. Note that I only use the GPS range feature -- I don't fiddle with score keeping or other aspects, so I can't comment on how well those other features work. I just turn it on, attach it magnetically to the golf cart frame and let it do its thing. One thing to note: If you drive wild like I do sometimes and end up on the next or adjacent fairway, the unit loses its place and will not give yardage to the hole you are playing. However, once you get back on the correct fairway the unit picks right back up where it left off. Having the front- middle- and back-distances to the green has helped me feel more confident in my club selection and I believe has helped my accuracy and scoring. ... show more

This is my 2nd Phantom 2. The 1st was left on a cart, hasta la bye bye. The 2nd one I have my contact info on it. The important part is it gives accurate yardage to the front, middle & back of the green. I've never played a course where it didn't work & work well (including my original smaller Phantom.) For a mid handicapper, it is important to know the distance. A big green can be 2-3 club difference from front to back. The newer Phantom 2 is a bit larger & even in the sun has a much improved easy to read face. A friend clips his to his belt. I use the magnet on the cart post. It's a much stronger magnet than the original. Never a worry about it dropping off. It advances automatically to the next hole & its easy to go back or forward if starting mid course. At the push of a button you can get hazard or layup distances. Overall it is GREAT. I highly Recommend it. ... show more

Great alternative to ranger finders. I found I was with-in a yard or two from my golf buddies with range finders, and for my game thats plenty accurate for judging my club selection. Its super convenient to use Vs looking at a phone app. Plus my phone is busy blasting tunes to the cart bluetooth speaker, so i dont want to distract it from its job. The biggest problem is that it is very easy to loose. Do Not use the magnet on the cart, not that it will fall off, it stick strong, but you will forget it every single time you turn in your cart at the end of the round. Second, dont use the belt clip, whether the clip is attached to your hip or your bag, the thing will pop out at any location allong your outing. The single biggest upgrade they could add to these things is a Find-My feature for an iphone. ... show more

Easy to use. Very accurate. Nice big numbers to read. It works well. I like the this black and white version cause the battery lasts a lot longer than the color ones, maybe 6 rounds of 9 hole before a recharge. .
