I buy a lot of this kind of stuff and usually pay a lot of money for ultralight stuff so its easy to carry. this isn't an ultralight item but its one of my favorite items. I have this and the ground sheet also. I keep it in my humvee because I'm not carrying this stuff long distances. This stuff is well worth the weight penalty but just be aware of the weight. Its not terrible just something to be aware of. I have went overboard with the ultralight concept so I may not be the best to comment on the weight. Bushcraft Spain are the only products I own that aren't made in the USA. Its very high quality stuff and you are going to love it. I've tried to have some custom pieces made and have gotten familiar with what it takes, and cost to make quality stuff, This is very reasonably priced as well. They may seem a little pricy but you are getting what you pay for. I highly recomend their products, I absolutely love this stuff

This is a substantial bushcraft tarp. Well constructed with reinforced tie-downs, quality seams, and a expertly applied oilcloth coating. Using the tarp is easy, setup in a number of configurations in a matter of minutes. In the photos I've set it up in an Adirondack style.

1st off the fabric is not 6 oz per square inch, that would be insane. This is 6 oz per square yard canvas before being treated. Second of all the quality of the tarp you get seems to vary a lot, most likely this will do exactly what you need it to do but this seems to be targeting the misinformed, survivalist collectors, but not practitioners. If you are looking for a tarp for survival gear and are a self-reliant person, you can learn to make one of these just as well if not better on your own for a fraction of the price. DIY: 3-day project with minimal work 100% cotton untreated canvas tarp or drop cloth of your chosen size Wash it until there is no more shrinkage Dye it if you want with RIT fabric dye soak in a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and (turpentine or mineral spirits) Dry hang may take 24-48 hours and the smell will linger for a long while Treat with paraffin wax, beeswax, or a mix thereof. Cobbler's Choice Canvas Wax and Otter wax make good products but will need a large amount Some basic sowing is required. If you want the tarp line straps and reinforced areas a little more than basic but still simple patterns and designs. Could always use grommets instead also and after sowing edged put them in.
