    • Just purchased this reel and put new line on it. Will give it test this August 2019 for salmon
To be continued after giving it a month in San Juan Islands of Washigton State. Have not tried reel yet but will give it a workout on my downrigger all August 2019. Ok I used the reel 3 times and it is not worth the $$. First of all the drag is very "glitchy" and not consistent. I tried tightening it and loosening it over 20 times and it still would not operate in a smooth manner while lowering with my downrigger. The second time I used the reel I hooked a nice salmon only to have the outside half of the threaded "palm grip ball" fall off the reel into the water! It does not float! I battled the fish with only half of grip to use and then the drag got sticky and I lost fish at boat. The reel is now off my pole and I should have thrown it in the water. This reel is one of the worst fishing products I have ever purchased. I would never recommend this reel to anyone. Maybe it was a weird one of kind faulty manufacture but WTF am I supposed to do now? ... show more

Hello love the reel cast well and retrieves line fast had one problem handle shaft broke when bringing a shark in but contacted customer service sent pictures of problem they stand by there product going to send replacement parts to repair my reel thanks for the great customer service Richard black

    • The picture shows a STC40 reel but the $62.99 reel is actually a STC30. the "Color" it say STC30.
Seems like a very nice reel but the reason for the 3 stars is they use the same pictures for the STC30 as they STC40. Just be sure you know what you are buying if you want the bigger reel STC40 buy the $69.99 reels. Don't be fooled by the pictures; They use the same pictures and dimensions for both of the Black/Gold reels but the 30 is smaller. The Blue/Silver is correct as a 40. I haven't used them yet but likely going back and buying the STC40s. ... show more
