I purchased this to replace a Hoover vacuum that I am no longer able to buy replacement parts without spending an arm and a leg so I decided to invest in a new unit instead. After adulting for a few nights and reading vacuum reviews (which sucks as much as you might think) I finally ordered the BISSELL 2252 CleanView. As a test I did vacuum my carpets with the old unit before trying the new one and I'll be if the new one didn't suck up dirt that old one missed. While using it the first time I did have to play with the height adjustment to find the right setting as to not overwork the belt which in my opinion is how people are going through them so quickly. If the brush is digging in too deeply , I can see how the belt can slip, melt and break which was one of my concerns when getting this unit. Now that I know what to look for, I have been able to clean the carpets without concerns of breaking the belt. Now I do have to say some of the design aspects on this vacuum are rather poor. The main one to me is foot switch to turn the unit on or off being right behind where the power cord goes into the motor. Moving either the cord or the switch to one side makes more sense to me as I see this as a point of failure over extended use but I'm sure the extra 2"-3" of wire cut into the profit margin too much. Each time I turn it on or off my toes seem to bind that cable in the same place over and over and if the unit does fail to turn on one day, this will be the first thing I'll look at. My biggest issue with the accessories is the fact you only get one 11" tube extension and one 12" crevice tool. Together a short 22" is all you have to reach things over your head or things at your feet. I'm not a tall man by any means but at 5'10" this means that I cannot clean off a ceiling fan without getting on a ladder and trying to hold the vacuum off the ground so it will reach the ceiling fan blades. When I go to vacuum things on the ground I have to bend over to use these even together is not really that fun. My previous vacuum had two 15" extension tubes and a 16" crevice tool so I could put the two extension tubes together and walk about the room and vacuum things up from the ground without having to lean over. I plan to buy a few more of the extension tubes so some of this can be fixed but thought it was worth mentioning in my review. Overall I do like the vacuum but it could be better. ... show more

We just retired our 10 year old Bissell Power Helix, due to a piece of it finally breaking in a place I couldn't fix. It may be an unfair comparison, but what the hey, I am gonna do it anyway. The power head seems to be turning up a lot more fur/dust than the old one that only had two brushes. The suction is obviously leagues better, due to change in tech/newer equipment. The height adjustment is significantly smoother than the other vacuum as well, the other was hard to turn and felt as if it was going to break every time. The cord is just as long and wraps up nicely on the back. I opted for a manual wind, because the automatic wind ups are just another thing that will break prematurely. I cleaned a medium/low pile 9x11' carpet with the other vacuum right before it broke on me. It took up a ton of dirt and pet hair. We went away for the weekend and this vacuum was delivered while we were away. We came back and I set it up immediately and vacuumed the same rug to test efficacy. It pulled up about 1/3 of a canister of dust and hair that the other vacuum missed. This doesn't come as much of a surprise, but as a testament to the newer vacuum. The filters are super easy to take out and clean and the canister empties within seconds. If you are like me and are worried about replacing your old machine with something new that may not be as good, have no fear with this vacuum. If you have a dog who sheds only on your carpets, this is the best vacuum I have ever purchased. Plus, I have long hair also shed. It was 4 days btw getting the vac and the last time I had vacuumed the carpet he chooses to sleep. (We are talking about 1 room) Just that area and the carpet I had almost 2" over the fill line. It could not have been 4 days of hair, it was the leftover from the previous vac. (The brand starts with an S and a bit more pricey) That amazed me. The way the vac is packaged is made to make the assembly take no more than 5 minutes. It is nearly complete on arrival, and taking the pieces out takes longer than installing 2 screws (phillips head screwdriver needed) that install the handle assembly. A couple snap or turn on plastic pieces and that's it, you are done! I used it immediately, and was impressed. The vacuum is very lightweight, the handle is designed large and ergomantic, making it arthritis friendly. It has foot pedals for the power and release of the unit for use. Another arthritis friendly option, no bending over unless you have to change the floor level. The settings make it perfect for the amount of suction needed for different floor materials. Many vacs at this price point do not give you the option, causing excessive suction and making a machine hard to handle when pulling back and forth. The accessories are the perfect amount, only 1 is not stored on board. That is a favorite thing of mine, no bag of accessories to store and have to stop your cleaning and go get an accessory. The hose is 6ft long, the pole is 1ft. The hose stretches to at least 9ft, so you have approximately 10+ feet of reach. No 2 or 3 polls to get lenght. Plus, as I said, the accessories are all on board, except the corner hair triangle. If you are going to do the deep clean just put that one in a pocket or carry it to the room. When I was done there was no hair stuck to the bristles. And this is not the fin model. I am just assuming that the suction got it all off. I imagine that the roller may need to be cleaned at sometime, it just didn't happen with the 1st use that got what looked like several weeks of sandy dirt (SC coast soil) and hair. Another plus,, as I was leaving the room I was cleaning I was onto tile. I didn't mention that the room is carpet area rug on a hardwood floor, then to ceramic tile. On both hard surfaces the vacuum pulled the debris into the vacuum, it didn't blow the items off to the side like my old roller vac did and I would have to chase the dog hair dust bunnies! The cord is 25 feet long, a good length. The description of edge to edge is so true! When using it on the side It got hair from in front of my nightstand with out moving it, a 1st! And when taking it to the baseboard full front it cleaned all the way up to the edge. No crevice tool needed. (This was not a deep clean) The dirt/dust cup empties easily. No hands required from getting the vacuumed dirt from behind or beside the turbo part of the dust cup. (Another 1st!) The filters remove easily, after each use I take the shop vac and clean the filters. I personally don't wash them after every use, just shop vac our sand based soil. This is not on the recommendations in the manual, just a time saver I do myself. There are only 2 things I would change. Have the cord retractable and add a fragrance disc. When you have dogs, a little bit of freshness in the air as you vacuum would be appreciated. Yes, at 1/3rd the price of my last vacuum, I have a cleaner home and more $'s in the bank! I do highly praise this vacuum. The Bissell cannister with the motorized head is looking like a great addition to my cleaning as the arthritis progresses. Well worth every cent! And in this economy, to find an item that works better than one 3x's as much -- BUY IT! ... show more
