Please taste food before you use this. I've been using this dish for a few weeks and loved it. It's extremely sturdy and suctions well. Well, last week my son refused to eat his food even though he's usually a really good eater so I decided to eat his left overs. This food tasted like soap! I chalked it up to not thoroughly rinsing and didn't give it another thought. The next time my son refused to eat I noticed it was from the same dish. I tasted the food and again it tasted like soap! After hand washing, dish washing, scrubbing, boiling, and doing everything I can, I still can't get the soap residue out of the dish. It seems as if it has been leeched into the product itself. I don't know if it's something I did wrong or if I received a bad product, but please taste your child's food before you feed them from this product. I feel horrible that I've been feeding my son soap-food. The soap taste lingers and makes me feel queasy, so I can't imagine how awful it must be for my child. He also has been getting on and off diarrhea that we couldn't pin-point. I don't know if it's from the soap residue but we will be able to find out soon. The media could not be loaded. This thing is terrible. The quality of the plate is nice but it doesn’t actually suction to a counter top at all. Very disappointed especially given the price point. Watch the video to see what I mean

The media could not be loaded. I definitely don’t recommend this item if you’re getting it for the suction part. It was on my daughters tray for less than five seconds and she knew exactly how to get it off, all she does is pull on it .. The product itself is very high-quality and an overall really good place but have to give it one star because the reason I got it was for the suction. DO NOT buy this product. Recently tasted my toddlers food and it was so plasticky. Just trying one morsel of rice already gave me that horrible taste. I am left feeling so guilty that I may have been feeding my child toxic chemicals. I don’t believe that this is child safe as it’s not possible that a food safe item would make food smell and taste so bad. I have not ever placed this in a microwave or dishwasher etc.. and have only had this item for less than 3 months. How can this be sold for babies!?!????!! ... show more

The silicone in these plates is porous, and traps food residue. The plates retain foul food and dish detergent odors after washing, which are then transferred into my toddler's meals. The foul taste is worse with warmer foods. It's quite disgusting. I bought these plates because of the many 4 and 5 star reviews here, and I'm afraid that these parents aren't tasting their kids' food before serving. I bought two of these and threw them out. Like others have noted, these absorb dish soap and just about anything else they’re washed with. So, yes, they are BPA, PVC, vinyl, phthalate, and lead-free. They’re “responsibly made in China” and “top rack dishwasher safe”. But you know what? NONE of that matters since they absorb soap and rinse aid and whatever else they come in contact with. All of those chemicals (even if you use natural soap) then get into the food your kid eats. It’s true that silicone can break down, but again — as others have shared — this leaching happens within weeks of purchase. So, no, these are not safe or kid friendly. Please don’t make the mistake of trusting that these are safe because they’re not made with the top trending no-no materials. If you use dish soap with fragrance, your kid is likely eating phthalates off these plates. If you wash with unfiltered tap water, your kid is likely eating environmental contaminants off these plates. I’m not typically an alarmist or interested in hyperbole, but this is infuriating and unacceptable. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I saw all these bad reviews and purchased regardless because I’ve tried munchkin and nuby “suction plates”. Those didn’t work for us at all. I didn’t expect these to do much either but I figured it was worth a shot. My son can’t get these off the table. They don’t budge. I don’t have to press down hard to get it stuck, it honestly sticks to the counter when I’m preparing his meal. I took a video of him this morning tugging on this plate with all his might and couldn’t get it to move! Haha The plates don’t have lingering smell, they don’t hold onto soap from washing, they don’t warp in the bottom rack of the dish washer, super durable and I plan to buy more. I love that I can now feed my son at the table and give him a plate rather than giving him one or two pieces of food at a time. The portion sizes are great. I have zero complaints about these plates and will definitely recommend them to all moms I know!! I attached the video of him tugging on it to take it off the table. Love this! So glad I made this purchase. My baby girl has a habit of picking things up and playing/throwing it around (like most curious babies); however, the suction on this plate is super strong & stays in place. She's able to eat without distractions. I love the dividers and easy clean-up, too. I highly recommend this to moms who are weaning their babies into finger foods or even for toddlers to use. ***Edit 5/18/17*** I had to minus 2 stars because after a few months of using the tray, the auction no longer stays on well on any of our high chairs. I'm really disappointed with the quality; I didn't think it'd fail on me so soon. Now my baby girl is able to lift the tray and fling food all over the floor. ... show more
