My first choice in sippy cups was the Munchkin 360 cup, which worked very well for child #1. While the cup did work, child #2 decided that in addition to drinking purposes it could also be used as an item to fling around for amusement. If you are a proud owner of the 360 you also know that it’s a pretty solid cup. Yeah, after a few near misses with it I decided to try a “lighter” cup. Enter this Mama Bear cup. Pros: I absolutely love the weighted straw. No matter how the little one turns the cup, as long as there is some liquid left in there, it will be sipped. As I mentioned above, it is considerably lighter. There are a few parts to clean, but a small straw brush is included, so it’s not too bad (it’s worth noting that I use this only for water). Cons: There is always some water left in the straw (the upper part) so that when you push to open the cap, the straw flings up and whatever water was left in the straw ends up splattered on my face. While this provides endless amusement for the kids, I still consider this a con. Bottom line: this is a good transition cup (from bottle to full sippy).

These have been great so far. I’m not positive what the weight is for - there is no specification. My 8 month old has sipping this with ease. Easy to wash and clean. Comes with mini pipe cleaner to clean straw.

These work great. This is the only bottle our 8 month old will drink water from. He is able to hold it by him self, and they are pretty durable, as he drops them on the floor all the time. Good size, measurements go up to 9 oz but can hold more.

The media could not be loaded. After using these cups for more than 4 years, I’ve realized they are not something I will continue to buy. Straw cups were recommended by our child’s speech pathologist to improve muscle strength in our child’s mouth & help with speech, so I used these for many years thinking they were great. Enter the Dr. Brown’s straw cup, & suddenly these are not quite so great to me. For one, the main issue we’ve had over the years is black mold forming behind the button, as milk would drip from the straw & build up in that area, & it is impossible to clean behind the button (it was honestly nasty). This has required us to toss out so many cups & replace. Great for Amazon, not so great for our wallet. This last round of cups was even worse, as you can see the top doesn’t shut well, & is almost impossible to open. I tried to return & Amazon was refusing to return, as I had opened the packaging (sort of a necessary step to find out something is defective). I had to call customer service, & even they were hesitant to help me because I had opened them. It definitely made me hesitant to continue using Amazon brand products, as it didn’t seem like they were all too willing to stand behind them. My suggestion, skip the mama bear cups & go straight to Dr. Brown’s cups. They are easy to clean thoroughly (no black mold ever), & easy to open (my child who is under two can figure it out & help himself to water when he needs it). An added plus, the Dr. Brown’s cups were actually cheaper when I got them!
