  • These watches are very nice
I saw "the hack" on a WWII movie and said to myself "I didn't know Bulova made military watches". I had to do some research and learned that they were quite popular during the war. Due the second hand stopping immediately when the crown was pulled. This allowed for synchronicity in missions. Enough about the history let's get into the watch itself. Bulova is owned by Citizen and the watch has the quality of a Citizen watch. The case is small if you are used to big watches. This reason for the case being small is also part of its functionality, the smallness of the case is supposed to allow for a tactical feel. You can wear the watch on the inner portion of wrist and it doesn't feel bulky. The moment is nice and the second hand has a slight tick to it, thought it appears to be a smooth sweeping motion. The Arabic numbers an the face are large and the do glow. The 24 hr numbers stand out on the black face, but do not glow. The automatic feature is nice and after a couple of shakes the watch begins to move. If you want it to keep time I would recommend a watch winder. If you don't want to spend the money it take a few seconds to set the time. My only gripe about the watch is actually the band. It is in the tradition of the NATO strap but isn't exactly. If you want to hang a compass on it, the compass has to be tiny. All the modern compasses are way to big a bulky for this strap. Also it's made in China. For the price I would prefer a softer leather. The crown does adorn the Bulova logo and the traditional Bulova namesake is scrawled across the face giving it an antique feel. Be aware this watch is water resistant. I would not swim with it, but it can withstand heavy rain and sweat, the backing is a screw down backing with a gasket. The crystal is clear and pretty tough. I haven't put it through the ringer, though I rarely take off my watches during the week. If you are thinking about this watch it is a great way to show off your historical knowledge and it is a fun way to show your love for military history. It is not a showy peice but does make a statement. ... show more

  • Sturdy 3 hand military hack
If you’re looking for a classic military hack that’s true to the original A11 design, at a good price, this is it. It’s an Automatic, so it’s performs consistently, so no worry of battery going dead. Keeps time accurately. It’s a little thicker than a battery powered but not really noticeable. 38mm dial is just right. The NATO strap fits nicely. Luminous brightness could be a little brighter but also depends on how much light you expose it to. Overall happy with it. A very nice military hack watch at half the price of other military automatics. ... show more

  • Watches from this era are not big
It’s a great watch to me. Current watch trends lean toward larger watch dials and faces, big pieces generally. This watch is a replica or close facsimile to a field watch for a soldier or officer in the 40’s; wrist watches then were generally smaller so keep that in mind when it arrives. It’s a great watch, real simple and I can feel the quality that went into making it. My only complaint: I can hear the automatic mechanisms inside the watch that keep it running swirling around to power the watch. It’s a little whirl sound, not super noticeable but if it’s quiet around you, you’ll hear it. Overall great watch and exactly what I was looking for. ... show more

  • Pretty cool field watch
I'm so glad I added this watch to my collection. The design is timeless; the fit at 38mm is perfect for my medium wrist; and the value of watch you get for money is a bargain. I love the domed crystal and it adds to the vintage style. I get lots of complements when wearing this watch. The cathedral hands are super cool and retro but with modern lume. Cons: the rotor is loud and you will hear it when wearing it but I got used to it and it became a nice reminder that it's a automatic watch. The lume doesn't last a long time but I am still able to tell time at dawn because the lume in the hands last longer than in the markers. The leather strap looks nice and is confortable but you I like switching straps often and will be getting a fabric NATO and maybe a olive alligator strap to have some variety. Overall, I would totally buy this watch again and do recommend it as an everyday watch because it is very well build and it doesn't feel fragile despite of the mineral crystal. ... show more

  • A nice simple mechanical watch - update
Over the years, when I have worn a watch I have tended toward simple, easy to read faces (sometimes called a "field watch") and a smaller, more discrete appearance. This watch is perfect for me. It's an automatic or self-winder - no batteries, ever - and I love the look and feel of it on my wrist. I've worn it for a couple weeks now and adjusted to correct the time just once (I check it every day or so against my phone). I also feel that I got a pretty good deal on it. This model's full retail price is about $450. It typically sells for about $350 (that was the online price for the manufacturer last time I checked) and I got it for a little more than $200. Bought May 2023 - sending it for repair Jan 2024 - the automatic winding stopped working, which I did not mind all that much, but then the second hand fell off and sometimes interferes with the other hands. Will report back what happens. ... show more

  • I love this watch
I wear this watch every day. It keeps good time and the automatic wind works great. I never have to wind it by hand. I didn't care for the Nato strap so I changed it for a nice leather band. This was a Christmas gift from my wife, so I've been wearing it about 7 months.

  • Great Watch by a Company you can Trust
Sure there are cheaper look alike watches but Bulova is the industry standard and no way related to cheap Chinese made watches. My son loves it. Fits and looks great high quality.
