These split-rail fences are great for MOCs. They work seamlessly with the well-known bricks, are sturdy, the color is good (matches the reddish brown), and I think the price is fair. I don't think the name brand has something similar - at least I couldn't find anything like it on Pick a Brick online. I bought these a while ago and used a few. Yesterday, I used some more in a MOC stable I'm working on and I think they work really well. For MOC builders, this stable ( a work in progress) is on a roughly 16x32 baseplate and I only used 8 fence sections (out of 24 in the set) around the yard. The set is so large, I'll probably give a bunch to my 7-year-old grandson. I believe they are perfectly sturdy for kids that age. Yes, I'm an AFOL, so reviewing for that crowd. These days, I usually avoid buying non name brand items but sometimes, as with these fences, I'm pleasantly surprised. I've been building for less than two years, so sometimes I take a chance to grow my collection of pieces. The color and quality are excellent. For comparison, in the snapshot I've attached, all bricks & minifigures are name brand including the fencing used for the inside stable gates - only the horses and a few hidden baseplates are non-name brand. The dark brown is the name brand reddish brown and you can see from this quick snapshot how well the size of the split-rail fence fits with other items. If you hold up a reddish brown tile to the fence, the color is indistinguishable. And as for size, I think the fence is more in proportion to the minifigs than the name brand carrot, LOL. The poles are six studs apart and they are 8 studs long (hence 1x8 - 1 stud wide x 8 long - I've seen reviews where people expect the dimensions to be inches - they are not - 1x8 means 1x8 studs). Easy to use, they are one-piece so you just stick the bottom of the poles into the baseplate's studs. They snap in easily and are easy to remove and reposition - maybe a little too easy - if you knock one side it might dislodge but the fence will remain standing up. Overall, I think it's the right balance between staying stuck and being easy enough to remove and reposition. I carried another MOC I used them on outside to photograph last summer and they all stayed on fine as I moved the MOC around my yard. When building, a brown 1x1 square plate fits perfectly on the bottom of the fenceposts if you need to raise the height of one or both posts to make a seamless transition when building on an uneven grid of plates. A reddish brown plate will look like part of the fencepost. I'm happy with my purchase.

These are so perfect! Have needed something like this for years! Finally, my grandkids can build areas to house their respective beasts! Wonderful quality and well worth the money! Fits with Lego and stays connected without falling over...which is important when it is a fence. It sounds ridiculous, but other fence toys in popular series fall over or come apart and there is nothing more irritating to some children than a fence that won't stay up if they are trying to corral their animals and dinosaurs!

These fence pieces are perfectly compatible with Lego baseplates. Their size is great, and gives them the appearance of functional fencing rather than lawn decor or accent fence (if you're really into your building aesthetics.) The number of pieces you get at this price is great! That also allows my kid to build the zoo that her "village" oh so needed.
