Putting these up cut down on sound reflection in my square room home studio. They aren't self-adhesive - I bought two-sided foam tape to install them and they don't do much to reduce sound leakage into or out of the room, but they're great as acoustic treatment.

They hold up on the ceiling pretty well when used with the 3M black double sided tape. Make sure you have a box cutter and a 1/2" piece of ply wood to cut on as they will not always line up properly and the edges may need to be trimmed. At first I though that they were not all manufactured exactly to the same size but it ended up being slight curves in the house walls that throw off some off the row alignment lines by 3/8" here and there. The sound dampening works to a satisfactory level, not as good as real thick acoustic foam but it's a good trade off on the looks versus the performance. A couple of suggestions: Wash you hands often when dealing with these tiles. They are almost like white cloth and they will pickup and get stained by any dirt that is on your hands. Keep a white rag and some alcohol nearby. This can clean off most of the marks that may get on the tiles. Really push and hold them in place for like 15 seconds each. The first few I put up dropped off 24 hours later because I did not push them on hard enough and did not wait long enough for the double sided tape to set. I have mine on my solar electrical room ceiling. I needed to dampen out some of the sound of various inverter fans running and also keep some of the daytime heat out. It works ok for those two problems. I noticed a 3 deg-F drop in temp during the day and the sound is about 30% less. Bonus was that it made the room look pretty high tech.

I helped reduce sound coming through a bedroom door, i even added sound proofing weather strip around the door frame, and a foam door sweep. Could still hear my son when he is playing his x-box

So these are NOT the same as lower priced options. The Bubos hexagons and squares are significantly nicer looking than the cheaper options. That being said... I can't tell a difference acoustically between the 4 brands I've tested... BUT this brand is FAR better looking and much more uniform. These might be overkill for a studio ceiling... but would look great on a living room wall. If your budget allows, these are absolutely worth the extra cost and will likely be easier to vacuum/clean/dust. Theu almost have a mild sheen to them where the other brands look like regular felt (which is what all of these are, very high density polyester felt board) I did stitch two together as a test and it worked quite well. These have a density very similar to balsa wood. Zero smell or fibers. A large paper cutter is how I install these, mine is a 15in 30sheet Wescott. Cut half way flip the tile and finish the cut. A utility knife will work, but if you're spending the money on a whole room just buy a paper cutter and do it right. Hot glue works awesome for permanent install. Buy a 10lb box of the good stuff for a room. I have also used scotch 6lb double sided tape squares. Use 1 square per corner. There are 48 squares in a pack so a pack will do 12 squares. The key is getting one on each corner set about 1in in from each edge. If you use less it looks like absolute garbage as the tiles don't sit level with each other. I also believe there may be some benefit to the airgap the double sided tape creates... idk.

Installed on 3 sides, 3 ft. hi, around refrigerator. Noise reduction, I couldn't be happier. At first upon opening box, the way the tiles were wrapped in plastic, it looked as if I only got 12 instead of 24. Removed the plastic wrapper, 24 were there. Easy to install, I had some 3m double stick tape, used what I had. Picked up Gorilla double stick tape, somewhat easier to work with. I kept looking on the Q & A how to apply tape. Accidentally found it by scrolling further down on Bubo page. Buy 1 inch wide tape, place 5 pieces per tile, about 1 inch long, apply all 4 corners, 1 to center of tile. So you can easily figure how much tape to buy. Tiles cut easily with box cutter tool. Helps if you have a carpenters square for true cuts.

It has been a little over a month since I ordered the white panels for my home. I didn't choose to write a review immediately in hopes to give the product a chance but sadly it disappointed. In terms of noise canceling these panels did little to help even though I covered at least 80% of the wall. The biggest concern I had was the "white color" as the panels had a greenish/ blueish hue to them. The color resembled that of a duck egg shell then white which was really upsetting since I wanted to match my white themed apartment but ended up with a minty wall instead.
