The media could not be loaded. I use this BT anemometer to provide me with wind speed for long-distance target shooting. I purchased this type of anemometer because I wanted a unit that would display wind velocity regardless of orientation or wind direction. The unit only provides the following data: (1) current wind speed, (2) average wind speed, and (3) maximum wind speed. It does not provide temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity, or other weather conditions. However, I only need it for wind speed and get the other environmental data from my phone. I mounted it on a tripod along with my wind indicator so that I have continuous updates regarding wind speed and direction (see photo and video). So far, it appears to work as advertised. I will try to update this review after I have some long-term experience to properly evaluate it for durability and battery life. It uses a 2032 watch-type battery. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five was that I ordered a solid black unit and received one that is black and orange, but that's not a big deal for me so long it functions correctly. No complaints here! I ordered this to measure the wind speeds for my inflatable business. It works well, just make sure you turn it off mine went dead within a few days I’m assuming I left it on. It’s very easy to use, and very easy to read.

This is the very definition of "you get what you pay for". The unit is OK if all you want to do is measure the wind speed and see the temperature - it does do that, but that's all it does, and that might work for you. If you want it to keep the wind speed in memory long enough to see what it is after you put your arm down, sorry, no go. Bought this to see what you get without spending $80 on a Kestral, now I see why Kestrel's cost what they do. I'm not knocking this unit or the seller as everything was as it should be regarding ordering and shipping. This is just too low end to be of any real use in a shooting environment, at least for me. It does feel very cheaply made and I don't see the wind turbine lasting very long. But it told me what I wanted to know, I guess I'll have to put up the cash to get a real Kestrel. ... show more

The BT-816B is very easy to use. I'm teaching a high school class about weather and wanted an instrument to measure wind speed and temperature. The BT-816B does both to the accuracy I was looking for. I highly recommend this meter for teachers! As far as use is concerned, it takes just a minute to learn - very intuitive. I wanted my students to spend their time making measurements and not dealing with a steep learning curve on how to use a meter. Oh- by the way, the BT-816B comes with a compass! So, now my students can do wind direction as well. Finally, I thought it would be fun to check my house HVAC system - measuring the speed and temperature coming out of my house vents. The outflow of air was the same seed throughout my house, telling me that the system is well balanced. ... show more

I was looking for a simple anemometer to check airflow into various rooms in my home, and bought the cheapest one I could find on Amazon - a mistake. The biggest issue is the readability of the display, and the short timeout on the display backlight. Other than that, the device seems to function adequately. I would like it if the peak hold function could be reset without turning the device off and on again. Using a flashlight to see the display I was able to check the room airflow as I desired, and confirm that the airflow to various rooms was balanced, so it did the job, just not too conveniently. ... show more
