  • Wildly inaccurate!!
Number of Items: 1
I can’t understand the reviews saying how accurate it is. Crazy! I have to recalibrate this thing every hour! I have the Govee smart thermometer, a highly accurate temp probe and another hygrometer all in the same place in my grow tent. Plus a regular temp sensor. This thing is always the one that is way off. It isn’t sensitive enough. If I wait long enough it will eventually match up but it takes forever and sometimes never does. This means screwing up your ecosystem in the tent bc the humidifier, dehumidifier, heater and AC are all running off of the inaccurate hygrometer readings. I’m currently waiting for the controller box for the infinity system. I can’t say enough about the infinity ecosystem. Just amazing from unboxing to installing and it working. Get the inline fan and carbon filter with the controller box. You can use other brands humidifier etc with their uis plugs. The in-line fan will lower my humidity to 45% in about 15-20 seconds. Yes. Seconds. I have a 2x4 tent. I went with overkill and got the 6” system lol. The ducts barely fit in the tent lolol! But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Also is all wifi if you get the controller box Pro. You can make adjustments anywhere you go. The hydrometer does not allow you to make changes bc you have to be in Bluetooth range even though it’s wifi! How dumb!! So all I can do from a distance is watch everything get completely uncalibrated and watch your crop die. Also, to make a change you have to wait for all the data to load TWICE which is super frustrating bc by the time it loads the temp and humidity have changed so you have to guess till it matches. …then an hour later…recalibrate. The smart thermometer I got with the humidifier is WAYYYY more accurate. Almost always on point with the others that match. Only problem is no wifi so you can’t see anything from afar. Next, you can have the readings update every 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour. 15 minutes drains your battery so fast it’s blazing. They even warn against it in the app. I have an iPhone 13 Pro max with the brick battery that has lasted me 3-4 days in the past. I have to put it on the charger frequently now all day. When I get the new controller box (first was faulty) I will plug in my devices and be done with the govee app and the wildly inaccurate hygrometer you are considering buying. With a B rating on fakespot??!! And good reviews for the most part?? I think the good reviews are people who have nothing to compare to and just leave it uncalibrated. Only explanation. If you want accurate use the smart govee thermometer (not hygrometer) but remember you’ll be losing wifi. There is a 3 pack bundle that comes with another device to link them all together in what’s called a distributed gateway. App is very hard to use and I have a background in designing apps. The automations flat out do not work. I even troubleshooted with govee support and they still do not work. It’s great concept but again, doesn’t work. All in all it’s a great concept but poorly executed. Don’t even get me started on the dehumidifier. DO NOT BUY IT EITHER. It won’t get the humidity below 55% IN A CLOSET! With their smart fan that wobbles back n forth running full blast as well. Yes it wobbles even at the lowest speed. They made the base as thick as a toothpick!! Again, poor execution, great concept. You have been warned. Stay away from govee products. I’ll be happy to toss it in the trash when I get things the way I explained. ... show more

  • WiFi check temps and humid levels
Number of Items: 1
I like this for remote checking the humidity level in my incapsulated crawl space. It’s a pain to crawl down in there, so I can keep a check on the dehumidifier performance from upstairs or anywhere with internet access. The app works perfectly. I have another that is WiFi only, I moved it to the less critical attic. The internet one is worth the extra cost. ... show more

  • Critical Failure (but fixed)
Number of Items: 1
Update to original review below: Govee Technical Support says that it found the problem described below and pushed an update to all affected devices on August 21, 2021. Indeed, all four of my Govee devices are now functioning perfectly well. And the best part of it is that I had to do nothing... the problem just "corrected itself". I changed my rating from 1 star to 5 stars since the basic unit functionality is really very good. I am assuming that Govee did indeed really fix this issue and that in the future the units will not appear to have lost Wifi connectivity when they actually have not lost it. Thank you, Govee! Original Review: I have four of these Govee units running into two widely separated physical location. Each location uses Nest (by Google) WiFi routers. When it works, the Govee app reports the appropriate temperature and humidity data. However, sporadically, the Govee units report that they have lost WiFi connectability and stop reporting all data. At that point, if the Govee unit is local to you, you can use the app to correct this situation. However, if the Govee unit is not accessible from your location, it is useless until it can be accessed via Bluetooth from the app. All four of my units have gotten to this state, so it is not a particular physical device that has the problem. I used the words "the Govee units report that they have lost WiFi connectability" intentionally, because I believe that they actually have NOT lost WiFi communications ability. I think that there is a software bug that is leading to them reporting that, and to stop displaying data, even though it is not true. The Nest WiFi system monitors usage of all devices. It maintains data on devices (such as phones) even after they have completely physically disconnected. If the same device subsequently logs onto the Nest WiFi system, the statistics go into the same bucket. The Govee device is very clever and (presumably to save battery) completely disconnects from WiFi when it is not reporting data. However, each device seems to have a unique ID beginning with "ESP" and thus its WiFi usage can be tracked by the Nest WiFi system despite its complete disconnection from WiFi.. Much to my surprise, all of my Govee devices that are marked in the Govee app as not having WiFi connectability, regularly connect and upload and download data (presumably to a Govee server). Furthermore, their upload and download byte counts are approximately the same when the Govee app shows them as connectable to WiFi and when it shows as not connectable to WiFi. This would seem to indicate that the Govee device sometimes CAN connect to WiFi even when the Govee app shows that it cannot. It would seem that some event occurs to make the Govee app flag the device as not-connectable and not report data even though the device is actually connecting and apparently reporting data to the Govee servers. Govee support seems to be really good if you are having routine setup issues. They are patient and walk you through what you need to do. However, in this case, they suggested that I have "someone" that was local to the Govee device download the Govee app, connect via Bluetooth, and reset the WiFi connection. This is obviously not a viable solution for remote monitoring. Since the Govee units go to this state regularly (it seems to take about three or four weeks), it makes them effectively unusable for long-term monitoring. Which, I think, is a pity, since the unit itself really works and makes a lot of "sense" for remote monitoring. I have entertained the idea that there is something nefarious going on here, since these devices are placed in people's property, and connect on a regular basis to the Govee server. But it seems to me that is really a software bug. ... show more
