  • Replace all the Batteries. Then these are very good to excellent.
We bought 5 ($75 each) of these in December, 2018 to monitor our summer house during the winter, and make sure we did not loose heat from our old boiler. After some work, I got all 5 to work. Left town, and headed for warmer weather. At first they all worked, and I was glad to see the data. Over the course of 3 months, they all disconnected one by one. By the time the last one failed, it was March, 2019 and we were past the high risk winter temperatures. When we returned to the summer house, I saw that the displays were still working but no connection. I simply put them all in a drawer. In late October, 2019 it was time to get the house ready for winter again, and I decided to check them out before finding another brand. All the displays were dead. I tested each of the original batteries, and found readings from 0.01v all the way to 1.00v. Like a bunch of random numbers. Good batteries do not run down like that. These were clearly really cheap batteries. I replaced all 15 batteries with new Kirkland AAA batteries that I already owned. Those all started at about 1.59v. All 5 units instantly jumped back to life, automatically reconnected, and started reporting data again. They were all as good as new, and and fully wifi connected. No need to re-program. Moral of the story is to throw away the included batteries as step one. Put in 3 high quality batteries. I suspect the batteries are the source of many many problems people are reporting. Not sure how much time to expect, but 5 or 6 months is all that I really need to have. I will buy one or two more, depending on whether or not wifi can reach the garage. That allows me the ability to see temps in every cold corner of this large house with radiant water heat in wooden floors. With more than a mile of copper / water pipes in wooden floors, I can not allow the house to ever ever freeze. These work great, with great reports. They just need a good power source. ... show more

  • Useful Data Collection, Function and Durable. Smart-Phone Required
Have purchased this model, 3x now. Nice humidity and temp combo, NOT to be used outdoors. WiFi and/or blue-tooth, stable and usable. Need to replace batteries at least 1x a year. Works with your phone. One in garage, one in Barn and one in Crawlspace.

  • It works! Very useful.
My HVAC (Carrier) has a thermostat that communicates with furnace, A/C (or heat pump), zones, manages humidity and variable speed functions. Carrier has made wifi controls, but they have been expensive and dismal failures. To use a Nest or similar would dumb down the whole HVAC system. The only function I needed was the ability to know if the furnace was maintaining temperature when I traveled (in the winter). The Goove Wifi does it, very well. I am so impressed by how reliable and how accurate temp and humidity readings are. You need Bluetooth for initial setup, but after that the Govee thermostat sends data over wifi to the Govee cloud (free). I was basking in the warmth of Texas this winter knowing that my home was not going to have frozen pipes. I did take the extra steps with other products to 1) detect leaks 2) turn off whole house water 3) turn off hot water heater 4) open/drain hot/cold water at the lowest point . Those address other problems, but the most probable scenario is heat out, and the Govee sensor is the key piece there. I've had temperature monitoring solutions for the past 35 years, but initial products required a land line and early wifi units were expensive and clunky. Govee is pragmatic and inexpensive. Far more precision than I need, but if you have a greenhouse you could sleep at night knowing this product has you covered. ... show more

  • Excellent, Inexpensive Monitoring
Purchased three of these to monitor the temperature at our church. They were deployed a month and a half ago, have a strong connection to wifi and are set to refresh every 30 minutes. Battery life is excellent - they are only down one bar. They have been reliable and are reasonably in line with our hvac sensors. I purchased these so we could better see the trend lines in temperature change and get alerts for temps outside center parameters. They have worked well. I have two minor complaints (thus taking away one star). I would like to be able to adjust the settings remotely. That does not appear possible unless you are in Bluetooth range. The second issue is when first set up, they worked on wifi for a short time then needed to be reconnected. (They have worked fine since then). It is an odd glitch. However, these are excellent devices and I’d recommend them to anyone. We will probably add a few more and look at other Govee products. These are dead simple to setup and have worked well. ... show more

  • Downgraded Review. Not reliable over WiFi.
I purchase three of these units over a couple of years. Initially I liked them ams all worked. I used the to monitor temp and humidity when boing back and forth between two homes since I wanted to be able to know my HVAC systems were working properly when I was away for months at a time. I now have to conclude that I can no longer trust them. They may be fine When you are in Bluetooth range, both they are totally unreliable over WiFi when I am out of town and need them most. Two units at one location failed to reconnect with WiFi. Even though they had good WiFi signal and sufficient battery power. The first unit that I purchased and that I had at another location worked fine for over a year, and suddenly it stopped communicating by WiFi on Oct 12. Nothing I can do remotely will reconnect it or refresh it. Even though it says it has been refreshed, it will not display any data past Oct 12. The batteries are good and it is in the same location it has always been at in that home. WiFi signal is good. But it is now worthless to me. If I cannot rely on them to stay connected, they are really worse than useless. Govee replaced one of the units, but I am no longer willing to keep trying after this latest experience. Fortunately I have another WiFi temp and humidity monitor from another company and both of them continue to work flawlessly. I was intrigued by the Govee since it was smaller and I thought I would add more monitoring locations without needing to run a 120VAC line. But without now being a le to leave town and have confidence in them, I cannot recommend them. The concept is fine, but there is definitely a product design issue. My advice is to look elsewhere. I am fully familiar technically with such products and the WiFi in both locations is very fast and is not the proble. I have no issue monitoring my other devices remotely. Just the Govees. ... show more

  • Excellent for monitoring reptile environments
I’ve been using Govee thermometer/hygrometers since 2021 and love their ease of use, accuracy and customer service. I also use Govee humidifiers, water leak detectors and an air purifier. I use them mainly for my pet reptiles. The app makes it easy to monitor and control the environmental conditions, which is a crucial part of reptile husbandry. I highly recommend Govee products. ... show more

  • Convenient, works well, and good customer service
It was very easy to set up and the app is pretty easy to use. I did need to calibrate it because it was initially reading about 20 degrees cooler; the calibration is pretty easy to do through the app, but it's limited. I could never get it closer than about 10 degrees cooler than the real temp, but it was reading consistently precise allowing me to just add 10 to the reading for the real temperature. I was able to get the humidity to be almost exact. I would recommend this product if you have reptiles. I bought it for my frilled dragon when she became very ill and I wanted to check her temperature and humidity throughout the day; I could be at work and look at the graph the app generates to see how good things were throughout the day and have the real-time reading. But, like I said, have a secondary temperature reader for your reptiles since you may need to calibrate this product. I always recommend a temperature gun if you keep herps. Unfortunately, after about 2 months, the product stopped working. I did purchase a 3-year warranty, but they still have a good guarantee on the product. So, they have a rapid-replacement feature on the app. I was able submit my problem and send pictures; then, they got back to me in in less than 24 hours telling me that they would immediately send me a replacement. Their email also outlined when it should ship and when it should arrive, which is about 4 days after shipment. So, overall. I would say that I have so far had a good experience with this product and the company. ... show more

  • Does what it needs to do has some limitations. Does what it needs to do has some limitations.
I am an IT professional so I will be harsh on technical reviews I write. But in this case I’m fairly impressed for the price. I have had a week with the unit and feel confident I fully grasp how it works and what to expect so I will share my thoughts with those who may be considering one. First off - I am full time RV. I have a big motorhome and it’s often at a park left in the sun during the day. I may be out running around errands or hiking or what ever and my pets are left inside the camper. If the power fails or AC units or breaker trips... my pets are inside. So, I have a full time hotspot in my coach so devices are always accessible remotely from my phone. In the past I have simply used my webcam to look at the thermostat but that won’t send you alerts like this unit does and the reason I bought one. So first of. The alert feature works great considering the following things: - correctly set up WiFi on the device, 2.4G - especially in the case of iPhone, run the gauntlet of security settings to ensure location and push notifications are always allowed - the device has update intervals- I set mine to 30 min. This conserves it’s battery. So it only has to talk to WiFi every 30 min. So this means potentially up to 30 min delay in notification. - when you are in close proximity to the device (I assume this is why it wants location data) it will attempt to connect bluetooth which is much lower power consumption and thus constantly active. - the graphs from the day if you are away will have major holes that update as soon as you get in proximity. Some dislikes: - Device is not backlit. Probably Also due to battery life concerns - slides up out of the wall mount holder (included) easily, which I suspect will become a projectile in transit when used in an RV. - directions could be better. As usual you get a huge book and shed a tear when you find only two pages of it are in your language. No pics no clear direction on things just general guidance. Granted the app is not all that complicated and it’s all done via app. Could be better for non tech savvy people. - if you intend to use this on a vacation home or place you will be away from long periods of time, the delay is something to consider. also you cannot remotely manage the device. Have to be in bluetooth range to make any changes to it. Such as setting alert thresholds Overall I find that there is much more to be liked than disliked about this device and would recommend it. Just be advised of some of the limitations. I am happy with the purchase, it works for what I need it to. P.s. what is it with the “ Warmth “ question on this review ? I gave that 4 stars. lol. Accuracy, and easy to read I can understand. 5 stars. “Warmth” ? Well it’s as warm as it says it is on the face I guess... ... show more
