Description

The genetic uniformity of the Ginkgo suggests that even ancient naturalized plants that are growing in China were planted and preserved over 1000 years ago, rather than in naturally occurring populations. Though the Ginkgo has been spread through cultivation all over the world due to its health benefits, there is little case, and no findings, for naturally occurring populations that have survived. The leaves of this tree are two-lobed and fan-shaped, making them unique and distinctive. In the fall, they turn a beautiful golden color which is short lived as once leaf drop starts to occur, it will be finished in a matter of days. The Bark of the Ginkgo is pale grey, and is very easily bruised and damaged. After 20 years of growth, this bonsai can produce cones and false flowers. When Ginkgo is kept as a bonsai, it rarely develops fruit, which is a bonus considering that the fruit’s outer covering gives off a nasty scent due to butanoic acid. Extremely hearty and fascinating, the Ginkgo Biloba is a perfect addition to any bonsai lover’s garden.Each live plant is shipped with the Phytosanitary Certificate as required by the USDA.

    • Healthy and big!!
Update: As of May 18, 2025, I don't think I can call this a miniature anymore. It did give me a scare when it went dormant and almost appeared dead, but come March, leaves exploded out of it. It's outgrown the pot and turned into a fine little tree! Absolutely floored by how well it's thriving! I have since put it on my front porch where it gets the morning sun and a nice sprinkle of water. I was very surprised how large and full this ginkgo was when it arrived at my home, but it was healthy and thriving so I put it directly in my sunroom to recover from the long trip. Already past a week and it's gotten quite a few new leaves and is super green! It's loving the rainfall over here in the southwest, and gets lots of gentle morning sun sitting next to my miniature fig tree. I'm very pleased with this specimen! I may consider buying another as a companion to this one! ... show more

This was the best price on a ginko bonsai tree. My husband had a 20 year old ginko that perished in our move from California to Virginia. He was devastated after caring for the tree so long. I tried to find a replacement and searched online in every outlet. This by far was the best price and to our surprise it's a remarkably excellent specimen. The packaging was second to none and the tree arrived is excellent shape. In addition the Marchantia (liverworts) on the surface of the potting medium was still green and thriving. I would recomend this company to anyone interested in adding to their Bonsai collection a new specimen or beginners just trying out the craft. The prices are excellent and the product in outstanding.     • It's very nice, but it didn't come with a book.
I love it, but I really think it should have come with a book for each type of tree OR advice on which book may be best to buy. Otherwise. It came VERY well packed, looks amazing!, I am very happy with it!

Upon arrival, the pot was all busted up. The tree doesn't look the healthiest and does NOT look like a bonsai. Very disappointed the pot arrived like this. I had to repot it as soon as I got it. Will NOT order from this company again!!

    • Fine Trees, Disaster to Unpack
I’ve made many purchases from Brussel’s Bonsai and each time I tell myself it will be the last. Their trees are of good enough quality, pots are garden variety bonsai pots, and they arrive in good condition. However, the unpacking is a nightmare: a veritable mountain of styrofoam packing peanuts!! You need a large plastic lined trash can just to begin and because the pot is well secured at the bottom of the shipping box the only option is to pull out one handful at a time. Again and again and again, trying not to fill the room with the tiny bits that cling to anything and everything. For as good as this seller is at the trees themselves, they absolutely suck in their understanding of what we have to endure to get them out. I’m done. Buyer beware. ... show more

So I'm admittedly no expert, but this is just a stick. No leaves or branches or anything.. I guess I'm a little confused? We'll give it a solid go and see if it miraculously sprouts something (anything!) before the return window closes but I don't have much hope..
