I have been looking at these for ages. I read blogs and reviews on Cricut vs Brother Scan and Cut and got Cricut Maker 3 for my first machine. It was AFTER that mistake that I realized that most of those are comparing OLD Scan and Cuts to the new Maker 3, which is beyond preposterous. It would be like comparing one of those old Expressions models to the newest Scan and Cut! In fact, the DX line came out in 2020 and Maker 3 came out in 2021, so there really isn't a legitimate reason for such a biased oversight, misleading people in a horrendous way. Anyway, I finally got one and it is amazing! I went ahead and got the Illustrator link so I can send my designs directly (seriously, directly) to the machine. Not only that, it cuts up to 3mm. Part of what you'll hear is that it's not as user friendly, people can't figure it out, but that's because it doesn't have the marketing some of the competitors do. There are plenty of very affordable and also plenty of FREE classes to teach you the machine. I haven't really taken mine yet as I use Illustrator mostly, with a little bit of Canvas Workspace. You CAN use this without a desktop, laptop, ipad or whatever but I would buy the cards with designs in them if you want to do that. All in all, this is a truly outstanding machine, don't let clever marketing fool you. Also, bad reviews are sometimes people truly not liking the machine and sometimes people expecting the crafting version of a dishwasher that magically finds, loads, and washes your dishes, then dries them and puts them away in the cabinet without you ever having to do much at all. This is the best investment I've ever made! Its a work horse! It cuts vinyl to perfection! No guessing depth, it does it on its own. It cuts cardstock, draws, scores, chipboard, small spots, big spots, can probably bake a cake if you teach it! Cuts pre programed items, items you scan in, stuff you didn't think of! The workspace is easy to use, and free! Dont think, just buy it. You will be glad you did!! ... show more

I'm an avid user or brother scan N cut. Using this everyday for straight 8 hours because I'm a crafter selling party cake topper, banner and so much more. This machine is a beast and much more QUIETER than previous one and it seems have more compact built than the previous one with price lesser by $100 (previous version 135PRO) was $399. Although the touch screen is smaller by 1.5 inch but no biggie. I'm planning to get the second one under the same model with different color so that I can double my productions and complete all orders faster. Recommended! ... show more

This machine is easy to use for beginners. However, they need to explain more detail about inserting the blade or other tools. The auto blade part is not that trust worthy. The first time I used it the paper didn't even cut, and the second time it cut a small whole in the mat and left the imprint on the mat. I feel like it cut the mat some. I ordered another mat to have on hand just in case it cuts through it to where I can't use it. Other than that, it is really fun to use! ... show more

My new machine worked for 2 days. I was able to cut a few different materials. After using it the last time I turned it off using the on and off button. Today when they try to turn on it no longer works. No sign of power. I tried the power cable on another device and the cable is working which leads me to think that the problem is with the machine. I spent a lot of money to return it. I'm very sad. In years of shopping on Amazon that I trust 100% it was the first time that a product came with a defect. The box was wet at the base, I don't know if that was the problem. I sincerely hope that the money will be returned in full. ... show more
