I love that this machine doesn't need the Internet to work or even a wireless connection. This first tutorial that comes in the package was too easy as the unit is sturdy and heavier than I thought it would be. The triangle is cut out was perfect without any fraying.

After years of using a paper punch to cut round labels, i battled with adhesive gumming up the punch and the hassle of hunting down odd sizes so I ponied up the dough and splurged on this. I considered a cricut but the idea of paying for their software when i don't need it was nuts. Afterall, i have my designs printed and i just need a machine to find the edges & cut them out. Simple, right? I chose this base model since i don't need all the extra designs and features. Turns out this model has a ton of features...many of which i don't need but some that I didn't realize i needed but makes my life easier, like the "half cut" mode so it only cuts the label and not the backing. Anyway, once i got the cut pressure perfect, labeling became a fun job instead of an oppressive task. For those of us out there that run a small business and do it all ourselves, this machine is a lifesaver ... show more

Bought as a gift for a crafter and she likes it very much, good for paper craft, quilting, card-making and lettering. I think it could also be of use to Origami crafters, signwriters and for etching. The cutting is very precise and consistent as long as you buy quality supplies. Brother options and supplies tend to be expensive, but this machine has a greater cutting pressure than the others, and is quiet. I know Brother printers, and they are reliable and long-lasting. The template load process is a little fussy and somewhat limiting, but after you learn it, it is very versatile. I was also very impressed by the way I could make my own unique templates with computer drawing tools and load them into the machine. Clearly, this machine works much better if you have a laptop or desktop computer that you can connect with a USB cord. The only other issue is the expensive adhesive mounting boards, which can have a short life if you do not take care of them. Be very careful when you set the initial cutting depth - accidentally made the first cut just a tad too deep. ... show more

I had a Cricut, but the number of adjustments were overwhelming to me. The Brother is simpler and pretty straight forward. Only drawback is not being able to use normal mats. You have to use Brother mats or the machine won't read it.

I had an older version that just gave out on me. I like this new one. Very good price, and the green color doesn't mean much to me. It was the cheapest of all the colors, which was kind of idiotic if you ask me. Now what do I do with my almost new Mat? You can't use them in the new machine. What was the reason for that?? But I do use the old blade and holder. I really don't care for the Automatic one. I threw it away. ... show more

After watching a few videos online, I did my first project after a few minutes. It scans and cuts amazing. I plan on use this for appliqué embroidery designs and can't wait to do that. Great product!

After seven months of nothing but problems with it, when I try to do anything now, it just says processing, and goes no further, I've even tried resetting it, and nothing. So it's junk after seven months of rare use.
