  • Great serger!
I bought a factory refurb & it is an excellent entry lv machine. It came threaded, I was able to sit down with the manual & learn it in an afternoon. I pd a lot less than new & have no regrets. I can't stress enough to read the manual, keep it nearby and refer to it often. Like any new tool, there's a learning curve, this machine is intuitive, has controls and lifter in a good place. I use it almost daily. Rolled hem is super easy to set up and gathers nicely too. Sews great. Worth buying if you are going to put in the time to learn it. I highly recommend. Does denim very nicely if I go slow over very bulky areas. ... show more

  • Easy to learn serger!!!
I have never used a serger before this one. I had never even looked at one. Pinterest made me believe I needed one for certain projects, “they” promised how fast I could finish them. So I started looking around. This one seemed to be a great price and all the reviews were fantastic! After I received it, I was terrified of it. It looks very intimidating. YouTube helped me realize I could do it. So I followed my manual to thread it and got started. It was easier than I made it seem in my head. I LOVE IT. I wish I would have listened to Pinterest sooner! This was very easy. Don’t be intimidated by all the thread. Watch some YouTube videos about serging or whatever...then get out the manual and get to sewing. It is so fun and easy! You can do it. ... show more

  • Worth it
I purchased this serger because I wanted to learn how to make clothes. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a machine that I will mess up due to threading ( I read a lot of reviews and saw some on YouTube). I decided to take a chance on a refurbished one and I glad I did. It’s a bit noisy but manageable. The threading was very easy. There are not many videos about this machine but it’s easy to learn. please oil before using. It’s a good beginner’s machine. ... show more

  • Great serger
If you like a serger that is easy to thread and works like a champ go for this model. It is cheaper than most sergers but it does the job perfectly. not only for finishing seams also for a pretty rolled hem and gathering.

  • Happy with purchase!
I’m new to sewing and didn’t even know what a serger does but I’m glad I found this refurbished, like new brother serger machine. Out the box looked great, no damage on the machine and the inside looked clean. Threading isn’t too daunting you get the hang of it pretty quickly. Read the manual. Oil the machine before first use, makes a big difference. I was making a Halloween costume for my daughter and this came in handy to finish all the seams perfect! So far happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Almost a great buy
Was excited to get this serger for such a great price. Was impressed with the positive reviews. My wife was at first impressed with the machine. She threaded it (not exactly a straight forward task) and it did in fact overstitch quite nicely, as it was supposed to, at least until she tried overstitching a piece of fabric that required the use of the cutting blades/trimmer. It immediately jammed up as the blades would not cut the fabric. Upon a closer look, the blades looked like they had some nicks in them, likely explaining their poor performance. We considered purchasing new blades (About 52 dollars plus tax from the local sewing store for OEM blades) or potentially having Brother send new blades under the warranty. However, if their process for checking out and refurbishing a machine did not catch and correct something so basic to its function, what else did they not check or correct? Those concerns lead me to return the machine rather than take the chance that we'd have other issues as well. We are now looking for a reasonably priced replacement. If I had more confidence in their renewal/refurbishment process, I might be tempted to take another chance on a refurbished unit, as it appears that others have had much better luck. They are not available right now, so that is not currently an option. I may have to spend quite a bit more for a new machine. ... show more
