  • This is a great sewing machine!
The media could not be loaded. I am an avid quilter and sewist. I ordered this machine specifically for the button hole feature for machine applique. I am very impressed with this machine! There are a lot of great features. - Needle Down button - Push button Start/Stop - Push button Reverse - Needle Threader - Free Arm - Speed control - Feed Dogs Up or Down - Button Holer - Button Sewing - 110 Stitches The machine is quieter than my Bernette Academy 05, but isn't completely quiet. Most sewing machines are a bit noisy anyway, but there are some higher end brands that are quieter than this. This isn't a negative for me, I'm used to noisy machines and this was a pleasant treat to have it quieter than the machines I usually sew with. The machine comes with stickers in place to quickly show you how to wind a bobbin, and thread your machine. There is also an embossed diagram to show you how to insert and thread the bobbin. My biggest tip for those new to sewing and a built in needle threader is to slightly lift up your thread as the threader arm picks up the thread to pull it through the eye of the needle. It will grab your thread every time! This is very easy to thread and get started right away! You have a myriad of stitches to choose from, and one nice feature included is that after you choose your stitch the display will tell you which foot you need to install to use with that stitch as well as select the proper stitch length and width. The feet are easy to change, just use the foot lift to put the foot up, and lightly press down on the foot. To install the next foot you just set it under the bar, and lower the guide onto the cross bar of the foot and it will snap in place. You can use either the foot pedal to run the machine, or press the start/stop button. Do note that you can not have the foot pedal plugged in to the machine if you choose to use the start/stop button. That was a bit of a disappointment, as there may be times when you want to use either option, and you will have to unplug the foot pedal or plug it back in. It seems it would be better to be able to have the foot pedal plugged in always and just pick which one you'd like to use. There is a speed adjustment on the machine and I found that worked really well when I wanted to use the start/stop button instead of the foot pedal. The reverse button doesn't actually go in reverse, but just drops stitches in one place to lock in your stitches. I found that this machine doesn't nest your beginning stitches once you have first threaded the machine, but once it is run and you have thread tails it WILL nest unless you hold them a bit taught, or use a scrap before running your pieces through. This is a common issue on many machines though, so it's not unexpected to run across here. One thing that was not included was a needle position switch. I would like to have seen that option, as it is nice to be able to move needle placement just a bit to get that perfect quarter inch. However, there are different straight stitch placements as stitch options, including a two-stitch lock before straight stitching. Nice feature to have there! Also note that there is no quarter inch foot included, but the J foot does have a mark on it that I followed that gave me a very close quarter-inch seam allowance and there is a 1/4 mark on the top of the bobbin case cover. There are some millimeter markings, and the needle plate has a 5/8" mark, a line for 3/4", a 7/8" mark and there is an embossed 1" mark on the machine. The 1/2" mark starts at the top of the right-most feed dog and continues down the outside edge of that same feed dog. There is no 3/8" mark, but I'd guess that would be right around the middle off the right-most feed dog. There is an option to lower the feed dogs and for free-motion quilting, however you will have to order the free-motion quilt foot separately as it is not included with the accessories. As a side note, this is not a machine I would use for free-motion quilting UNLESS it was for smaller projects like placemats and such. Free motion quilting anything larger than a baby quilt would really put a strain on this type of machine. For a small, lightweight machine, this is a fantastic option to have to take to classes. If you are newer to sewing, this is a great starter machine too! Definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Sewing machine
I just used the Brother CE1155 Computerized Sewing Machine for the first time, and I’m very impressed! The 110 built-in stitch options are amazing and give so much versatility for different projects. The LCD display is clear and easy to use, making it simple to navigate between settings. It runs smoothly and feels solid, which is great for detailed work. I’d recommend this for anyone with moderate to expert sewing experience, as the features are advanced but intuitive. The included feet are a nice bonus, adding extra functionality right out of the box. Overall, it’s a fantastic machine for creative sewing projects! ... show more
