Running network transfer tests between my main PC workstation and my local server, file transfer speeds soared from a capped 110 MB/s up to a blazing-fast 280+ MB/s. It utilizes the full bandwidth of my high-speed hardware with zero bottlenecks. Rugged Metal Heat Dissipation: Unlike cheap plastic switches that cook themselves under heavy, continuous data loads, this unit features a rugged metal housing. I have no issue with this switch and every test came out as 2.5GB which is perfect since I'm running a server at home, and there will be no issue between internet and intranet. It handling both just fine! This stays on 24/7 unless there is a power failure, so heating or may overheating is not an issue. You can feel the heat, but it is not too hot. There is no noise and it mounted to the wall behind a desk, making it easier to get access to it. Durable enough to not cause an issue. I was able to upgrade my internet service to fiber and I needed a new switch due to different ISP hardware and to accommodate my new speed. The exponential cost increase for each speed hike over 1gb hardware was an eye opener to me, and caused me to consider brands I previously would not have. After watching a few YouTube reviews, I settled on this one. Costs are kept down by using a non-standard chip, and it's a plastic enclosure instead of metal. The light-weight construction gives it a lower-quality feel, but it does work, so who cares? I picked up the BrosTrend 5 Port 2.5GB Unmanaged Ethernet Switch after upgrading my internet to 2 gig, and it’s been working perfectly. Setup was literally plug and play right out of the box. No complicated setup or configuration needed—just plugged everything in and it worked immediately. It’s also really small and compact, so it doesn’t take up much space at all. So far I haven’t had any issues with speeds or connectivity.
