This chandelier came, as expected, in pieces and needed assembly. I usually assemble them before installing so that any problems will show. Also, it is frequently easier to assemble them working at a desk rather than at a ceiling. Assembly of all the arms and ornaments took quite some time. Then, I noticed that a regular light bulb did not fit. As you can see from the first photo, the bottom part does not allow a regular size light bulb to be placed into the socket. A smaller bulb fits as shown on the second photo. I had to loosen nuts that kept the socket in place and lift it up so that a regular size bulb fits. That results in pipe nipple now protruding quite a bit above the top as shown by yellow arrow. It can be used to flush mount this chandelier. It is not intended for a flush mount, and I decided against it. It appeared to be too much work and too difficult for a single person. It may be easier if two people are doing the installation. I can see from the reviews that another used did flush mount install. After measuring the excess length of the pipe nipple, I partially disassembled the fixture and cut 1" of pipe nipple. I used pipe cutter so not to damage the wiring. If you are using a hacksaw, you should completely disassemble it and remove the wiring before cutting. After the assembly, regular size light bulb fitted OK, and I was able to install it as a semi-flush fixture. Last two photos show it lit alone and with other lights in the kitchen. This mini chandelier is fabulous. The chrome and crystal is so pretty and reflective. The fixture is very lightweight, making it easy to place almost anywhere. I love the delicate scrollwork and can't wait to see it hanging in my greenhouse.

So it took us about an hour to put this together. You have to attach 5 of the legs(?) with screws and you also need to attach the crystals but the paper they provide shows you which goes where - that along with a photo of the actual assembled chandelier - should get you there easily if you have any handiness. We modified this from hanging on a chain to being flush to the ceiling which was what I wanted but otherwise same look. An Edison Bulb adds to the look if you decide to buy one. But check the length of the bulb first! It's really pretty when we turn the light out and put on the Aurora Borealis light machine! It throws rainbows! Oh, this is a two-person install unless you have a ladder with a platform you can rest the lamp on while attaching it to the wires. You need someone to support the bottom of it. It's heavy and bulky enough to require two people. All in all really happy with the end result. We enjoyed the challenge. If you're a do-it-yourselfer you'll have no issue with this. ... show more

I was surprised to open the box to find everything in parts. No where in the description does it warn you that you have to assemble the light fixture completely.
