Description

Off-limits. That’s what Jude is to me. My older brother doesn’t trust me with his player of a best friend. Which is totally fine, because I’m not interested. As Jude and I reluctantly become friends, I start to see that there’s more to him than others notice. But I still won’t go there, not when I have a crush on someone else. But Jude’s the perfect person to help show me the ropes when it comes to the opposite sex, besides it’s not like he’ll get attached to me. Except he does. And the thing about broken boys? They’re way too easy to fall for. Read more

Omg my favorite of the series! The steam, the heart, the chemistry! I could not put it down. It’s sweet, it’s swoony, and holy moly is it sexy! Broken Boys Can’t Love is the feel good, first romance that makes my heart soar. Characters finding themselves, growing up together, and the epic thrill of that first REAL love. I just adored it. I love the brother’s best friend trope, and Micalea really played on all those vibes. The secrets, the sneaking around, the relational tensions. Sheltered Millie finds herself starting her freshman of college in a house full of moody jocks. Her brother, star of the last book in the series Cree and his two buddies, including playboy Jude. Jude got hurt by his high school sweetheart, so he’s been bottling all that baggage up into meaningless hook-ups and emotional detachment. Needless to say, his reputation with women is not exactly the glowing endorsement brother Cree would want in a suitor for his baby sister. But Mille falls for the broken playboy, and as they develop a bit of a friendship, Jude decides to help Millie explore a part of herself she hasn’t before- sexy times with boys- but soon their friendship and physical chemistry gets complicated. Real feeling can be real trouble, because not only are they off-limits, but Jude has some real baggage. I just adored these two. While I adored Cree, I felt like his book lacked some of the emotional connection and substance I wanted in a couple, and I felt like I got that with Millie and Jude. IN part because Millie is just so open and curious, and in part because Jude has a whole lot of unresolved pain- all of which make them the perfect pairing to work through some meaningful challenges AND to grow together while doing so. Jude’s scars are deep, some are secret, and Milie is the perfect safety net for him to learn to heal and emotionally connect again- in the same way that he’s the safe place for her to explore her sexuality. They are HOT together, but also incredibly sweet. Millie is incredibly likable- thoughtful, sweet, and clever. She’s focused and driven. And Jude is just lost- he’s a really sweet and thoughtful guy underneath it all. He makes a few cringing decisions early on that are hurtful to Millie (before they are together but when the spark is already there), but he redeems himself so completely. These two have such great chemistry- and the intimacy of them being in ‘Hiding” means we get a lot of one-on-one time in private, which opened the door for more depth. There’s some angst, thanks to both the tension with Cree and some pretty big twists, but I appreciated that Micalea doesn’t drag the drama out too far but still giving us some good closure, and we get some great time with some past and future characters. I’m looking forward to more from this series- the set up for the next book is certainly a set up for some EPIC drama. HOly moly- can’t wait. ... show more

Broken boys can’t love, that’s what Jude thought for so many years. Not feeling like enough, going through life in a fog, making himself out to be someone he’s not. Until he met Millie. His best friends sister, of limits, or that’s what he keeps telling himself. Millie is sunshine in a person. Bright, happy, beautiful. She loves her family and had a great childhood, but longed for her independence. Now attending the same college as her brother, she gets that taste of freedom. What she doesn’t expect is to fall for the one person her brother warns her about. Her brothers best friend. Her new roommate. Jude’s persona as a player comes at a cost. One he didn’t see coming. His past relationship trauma catapults him into thinking his not good enough. But Millie peals back the layers he hides and slowly reveals the person he pushed away for so long. Millie is completely new to the whole dating thing. Especially everything that happens after said date. Her insecurities cause her to ask for help from the one person she shouldn’t. But the more she gets to know Jude, his walls start to come down. “Millie Madison makes me feel alive in a way I never have before. It’s like before she graced my life with her kaleidoscope of colors I was living in black and white. There was nothing wrong before, but now my life is so much better because she’s in it.” “We don’t always choose who we fall in love with. Sometimes it happens in an instant. Sometimes it takes time. Sometimes it’s with someone from the wrong side of the tracks, or it’s with the person who’s always been right there. Jude kisses me, and as my eyes close, sinking into his kiss, I think about how sometimes you fall for your brother’s friend, the guy who’s all wrong on paper, but is perfectly right in your heart.” ... show more

  • Broken boys can love
I love me a good sibling's best friend romance. Broken Boys Can't Love was a terrific read. We finally get Jude's story. This boy had his heart broken and was acting out. When he meets Millie, he's drawn to her though he's not supposed to. There is a little animosity because Jude was fighting his attraction but when he decided to be friends with Millie, it was sweet. They had entertaining banter and their interactions were great. But of course the more time they spend together, the more feelings bubble up. And it was intriguing to see how it would all play out. Especially with outside baggage contributing. I felt for Jude and his thinking of himself. It was nice to see how when he with Millie, it started to change. And Millie was awesome-she was just so sweet. I enjoyed watching these two fall in love. They balanced each other out and were made to be together. I couldn't get enough of their story. Overall, a lovely and heartwarming story. Jude and Millie were chef's kiss. I'm so excited for Daire and Rosie's book. There is so much there and it's going to be a good one. ... show more

  • good, but
Good concept, liked the characters, however, him having sex with others after they are already interacting and the weird kiss between her and her friend didn’t make a lot of sense. We can’t believe he was that attracted at first when he goes on to be with multiple women. Then when they are in love, she makes out with her friend publicly? And “likes it” That made no sense and detracted from how “in love” she was. This author tells good stories and generally writes well but sometimes throws in elements to seem “more risqué” or something and it actually hurts her story telling. ... show more
