Good for the price
Size: 36-Inch Style: 630 CFM Pattern Name: Hood
Pro: - LED lights at the front and not all the way in back at the wall. - Easy to operate tactile buttons - Easy to clean - Easy to install Cons: - Noisy (on usable settings) it is quiet on the lowest setting but will be so slow that it will not extract any fume. You could even call this the useless setting. - Medium setting is way too fast...maybe there should be a boost setting instead. - Flimsy thin exhaust cover. For the price range of...400-500 we consider this a great buy. ... show more

Very nice range hood! We love the three fan levels and the LED lighting. Bought for a kitchen remodel. This is a very nice unit.

Honestly, what is UP with this thing?!
Size: 30-Inch Style: 630 CFM Pattern Name: Hood
Bought this for my kitchen remodel, based on reviews of its LOOKS. I know people complained about the noise level of the exhaust fan, but I figured they were just being whiny. Nope. This thing is a.) ridiculously loud and b.) ridiculously powerful. I have never had a kitchen vent fan cause a huge breeze through an open window when on, LOL. This thing really moves the air. But at a cost. And that cost, my friends, is noise; the vent hood has 3 levels of fan: low (so low and so quiet I wonder if its even doing anything). Then #2 - medium. Which is like extra high on any other vent hood. It is so strangely designed that the low setting is so super low, I am not sure the fan blades are even moving, to medium, which sounds like a Boeing 787 just landed in your kitchen. Oh, setting #3 - high, you ask? It sounds like 3 Warthog fighter jets are taking off continuously. I have NO idea how this thing passed quality control at the Broan HQ. Is the QC tester hearing impaired?! Also, whatever brainiac designed the different power levels of the vent fan need a serious MMSE. Either it was a practical joke by an engineer that submitted the design on their last day with Broan, or someone has a chip on their shoulder about their past vent hoods not being quiet enough on setting 1 (low), or powerful enough on 2 & 3 (medium & high), because this thing is going to have you scratching your head too. Which wont have any dandruff on it because the suction from the vent hood will have already removed it for you. The brand we replaced (GE) was actually perfectly proportioned it its fan speeds. Broan could learn a thing or two from GE. Anyways, tl;dr - It looks nice, price is nice, but has serious serious design flaws. ... show more

A couple things stood out to me.
Size: 36-Inch Style: 630 CFM Pattern Name: Hood
36-inch. Packaged very well, no damage. Very nice finish on the stainless steel. I installed it quickly with no difficulty. I mounted the hood 28-inches above the stove. I like the touch-sensitive buttons as there are no crevasses to collect grease. The buttons light up with a classy blue neon-look ring around the buttons. I also like the 5-minute delay feature for fan off, and I like that there is no LCD display to make the unit more gaudy and prone to failure. I like the very clean design. I unscientifically tested the decibel sound levels with an Android phone app; I held the phone at my head level where I would be standing to cook. Ambient in my kitchen at the time was 50db. Fan on low: 54db, very quiet and did a fairly good job at capturing steam from eggs boiling in a pan on a front burner. Fan on medium: 74db, a substantial jump in dbs, but I found this speed necessary to extract the smoke and odor of a hamburger cooking in a fry pan on a front burner. This sound level is just a bit too high to have a comfortable conversation. On high: 84 db, which is just too loud to bear for any length of time and may even loosen fillings in your teeth (hey, it could happen, maybe). I doubt I will use it on high very often. A couple things that stood out to me: 1: I'm happy that there is no name plate on the hood. This makes it easier to clean the stainless steel and the look is very clean. I consider this fan to be at a very good price point, and I can imagine that Broan ditched the name plate to save a certain number of pennies. 2. The lights have two modes: on and off. They are bright and at a good lumen level for seeing what you are cooking. But I am surprised that there isn't a third option, call it "night light mode." I guess for the price point Broan opted to not buy more-expensive dimmable LED modules and put in a variable power supply. 3: Every button press results in a beep, like on a microwave oven. I could do without this as the buttons light up to tell you what is happening. It may be good for a blind person, maybe, but for me they could have saved another few-cents by eliminating the beep module. I'd still be just as happy with this unit. 4. The stainless steel in this hood is strongly magnetic. If you want, you could use a refrigerator magnet to hold an old-school paper recipe to the hood. Or a magnetic hook to hold a potholder. You are on your own with this; don't invite the fire marshal to dinner. ... show more

Definitely a budget friendly choice
Size: 36-Inch Style: 630 CFM Pattern Name: Hood
The steel is thin and flexible. It can easily be twisted by pushing on a side. A thicker gauge would definitely be better. The fan is extremely quiet on low and very loud on high. At medium speed I feel it is a little to loud, but acceptable. However the fan motor seems out of balance and reverberates through the wall which is very annoying due to the location of the fan in our home. I used a self adhering sound deadening mat on the inside of the fan housing, which greatly reduce the noise level, but probably voided any kind of warranty. Definitely not top of the line, but still nice on a budget. ... show more

Great item
Size: 30-Inch Style: 630 CFM Pattern Name: Hood
Love this product. However, the noise level is either super quiet/as if not on, level 1. Level 2 is a bit loud and Level 3 is WAY TOO LOUD. However, I would buy this product again. For home cooks, Level 2 clears out the smoke quickly and does a beautiful job. It doesn't have to stay on for long to get rid of any smoke. It's beautiful, pretty easy to install and the light over the stove is PERFECT! Great purchase. ... show more
