It installs as a non-ducted range hood with a charcoal filter that effectively removes smoke and odors from your cook space. The protective lamp lens distributes light evenly over the cooktop and accepts up to 75W bulb (not included). It's designed with smooth surfaces that clean easily and quick-release filters that can go in the dishwasher. Install the insert at least 18" above cook top. The sides are mitered and the bottom edge hemmed, with no sharp edges for safety and good looks. The unit has a two-speed fan switch and separate light switch and the motor is permanently lubricated. The Broan-Nutone 413004 range hood fits our needs perfectly. We bought this to replace an old undercabnet, hard-wired, fluorescent bulb unit that was probably installed in the 1970's. Since we only do a modest amount of cooking on the range top there is no need for a fancy vent hood with a lot of fancy bells and whistles. We just need something that will vent the water vapor/steam and cooking smells and this basic, affordable unit does it all. It offers a 2-speed fan, which is super quiet, and a light as well. Once I prepared the underside of the cabinet to receive the unit, the actual installation took less than 30 minutes, including the wiring connections. This is a well-built and sturdy unit, looks great, and will likely serve our cooking needs for a long time. Well worth the price and I highly recommend. ... show more

It was exactly what I wanted. It looks good and works as it should. I already had one in place, so replacement setup was easy. The only issue I have is that it doesn't come with a light lens. You have to buy that separate.

Awesome item. Easy to install. Uses a normal light bulb, so super easy to replace. Very clean looking. I edited this review after hearing back from customer service about the original issue (see below) their suggestions worked and removed the residue from the protective plastic sticker that was on the hood. This item arrived with a protective blue plastic peel off piece across the front of the hood. After installation, I removed this blue plastic to find that there are marks all over the front of the hood now from that blue plastic. I tried first cleaning them off with just a soft rag and water nothing. Then I tried Windex that didn’t work. So I tried a soft drag with some Dr. Bronner‘s soap and that had no effect either. Otherwise it is a lovely hood. Not sure how to get rid of these ugly marks. I took a photo, but it’s very hard to photograph. ... show more
