Wow! I’ll admit I was a little skeptical about this. BRIO has been making toy trains forever, and my sweet little had already received an amazing BRIO set from one set of grandparents that is so cool everyone wanted to play— except the toddler!! I went online to see if BRIO made anything appropriate for younger tots (mine was 14 months) and came across this set on Amazon. Thought the price was a bit steep for 6 pieces and a carrying case, but decided to try it out since it is fully compatible with the BRIO 3+ train...if nothing else it would make a convenient way to carry the favorite pieces to visit grandparents when little is older. Needless worrying!! WOW. At first little was content carrying the case or the engine/car around. Now two months later it’s the favorite toy!! Little is able to put the train cars together (thanks to the reversible polarity magnets! Genius!!), almost able to assemble the track parts, beginning to be able to place train cars on track and push them along. It’s all very exciting! Little still loves carrying around the train cars (sometimes wants to hold while going to sleep), and the case. I’m completely won over! By 18 months (mfg recommended age) the learning curve will be much quicker. The components have all withstood a toddler’s learning style (mouthing the pieces, throwing the pieces, etc) beautifully, and little one now plays “properly” with the train set...mostly! 😉 Totally worth the money for a well-made quality toy that will withstand years of play! ❤️ UPDATE: STILL a favorite toy!! Endless entertainment for little!! At 18 months little is able to put the pieces of track on and attach the on/off ramps as well. Added the BRIO My First Railway set for 18-month birthday. It has many more pieces (18 vs 7), and more potential layouts. At this point I’m very glad we started with the Take-Along set, as the bigger set is loved, but overwhelming at times (only had it about a week, so that will pass as little grows accustomed to it). Very pleased with purchase, and highly recommend.

Love this! Got this at 18 months and she played with it off and on. But at just over two she's started putting tracks together. Great introductory set. It goes with the track expansion packs and all of the other brio sets. Great to travel with and great to try it out!

My 2 year old loves this! It is very easy for him to put together, and it is so nice that he can store all the pieces inside. It holds all the pieces it came with, plus a few more pieces of track (I added some to make the track a complete oval instead of open ended), in addition to five or six more train cars that he already had at home. He plays for hours with this, and I can’t complain about a toy that requires no batteries and that develops his fine motor skills.

We've had this set for almost a year now and it has gotten SO much use. Apart from taking it on every single trip, which my son loves, it is easy to clean up and put away. He now adds a few extra pieces and cars to the set when we go anywhere. I can't wait for the opportunity to give this as a gift.

This thing is the best little train. We added a few more pieces to make a full circle. I wish they would sell a full circle version. The little on ramps are nice. My 18 month old loves this train set and it stays together for him for the most part.

Purchased this for a trip for my train loving son. It is great. He loves playing with it everywhere. It’s very compact and easy to take places. We lost a piece on one of our trips and I contacted the company. They were very responsive and I was able to quickly get a new part. A+++. Highly recommend.

My grandson has a real thing for trains. He has really loved this the along set. We added some curved pieces to make a complete circle. He would like to play with it all the time, but it is reserved for travel. Really nice set.
