The media could not be loaded. I got this to surprise my kids for after we put up the tree. They loved it! And immediately wanted it set up. Thankfully the track is easy to put together, and after putting in the batteries it was running. The train is nice quality, heavy enough to stay stable, but light enough for kids to play. With 2 toddlers around, the track is staying together nicely. Can't say too much about battery life yet, but hopefully it lasts. This train is adorable. And remote is easy to use. Our boy is 2 1/2 and once we showed him he had no problem. He loves it. We added tracks to it but it comes with a good amount. No regrets biggest hit this Christmas! Toot toot!

My grandson is 2.5 and loves trucks, trains, cars, etc. He is a little young for it but he learned how to use the controller pretty quickly. Figured its a good starter trainset that will hopefully last a few years until we can start to upgrade (if he’s still interested!). I bought this in 2022 to put around the Christmas tree. It was less expensive than the polar express and at the time I got it for $65. It worked great at first despite being too intentionally loud when running, but stopped working after only two seasons. Only came out for about a month for two years and was barely used while out. Mostly sat quietly under the tree and played with once or twice a week. I stored it in the box every year and took very good care of it. I didn’t use it in 2023 so it only got used in 2022 when I bought it and again in 2024, but this year it isn’t working right out of the box. It will run at first but then slows to a stop and won’t start again unless I turn it off and back on again. It can’t even make it around the track once before stoping. It will run off track upside down on its own but as soon as it needs to pull a bit it will seize up and then not start back up again. The sounds and controller still work. I opened up the bottom to see if I could find the problem thinking maybe it was dirty or had hair wound up around the wheels or gears or something but nope. It’s clean as a whistle and looks new inside with plenty of grease still present on the gears and everything. It’s really a bummer because all this plastic and manufacturing used for only two seasons is now complete garbage. It’s also a bummer because I can’t afford a new one right now, not that I will ever purchase this model again, but my family and I were really looking forward to it this year. I was expecting it to last many more seasons especially because of how simple it is with battery operation and all. I am also now annoyed because I bought new C batteries hoping it would fix and have no other use for them. Lionel ought to fix this problem. They’re selling everyone a one or two time use plastic hunk of junk that’s ending up in the landfills. Really a shame. Another add on to “they don’t make things like they used to”.     • Toddler Approved- The Little Engine That Could

I normally do not write reviews but I had to for this item. My toddler is in love with this train. Since we unboxed it two weeks ago this train has ran over 12 hours each day. We cannot turn this train off or he will be upset. Because we cannot turn the train off until he goes to sleep we depleted many batteries. We have now invested in rechargeable batteries. At this point I am wondering if we can get a how-to video on maintenance of this train. Not only has the sound of the train burned into my brain at night, it has now developed a squeal. It has now also started to stop mid trip and reverse and then go forward. Not sure if my toddler just overworked this train already or why this is occurring. Due to these issues so early on I have given 4 stars. If I would have known he was going to run it so hard I would have purchased two when it was on the lightning deal as I now feel bad for this poor train going so many hours a day. This train is really the little engine that could. If anyone knows how to maintain this train please let me know. I will update this review again when it has been longer. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Fun under our Christmas tree! Didn’t work on our carpet, the cars kept derailing on the turns. On our wood floor, going the slowest speed no issues with derailments. Fun noises, kids love it!

The look on my 2 year olds face when he saw the box was enough for a 5 start review tbh. I did purchase this at 49% off original price but knowing what I do now, it is worth full price. Very easy and quick to assemble. Large track- We put around the base of our large Christmas tree and didn’t even use all the tracks. I do wish the links between cars were more stable, but it does come with several extra links should any of them break. My 2 year old is absolutely obsessed with Toy Story and loves this train. He just waves and giggles as Buzz and Woody go by and asks for his choo-choo to be going all the time. Best purchase I’ve made in a while ❤️ ... show more
