After several years of looking for a fireplace console that was large enough and had ample storage we finally ordered this piece. It was disappointing that there was only one review as I would have liked more information on the piece. First and foremost, it is beautiful and I do love how it is solid wood. The only piece that is is thin plywood is the backing which doesn't really make it any less beautiful. The color is deceiving since some pictures looked as if it could be a dark stained maple, but it is more grey mixed with dark brown. It was delivered by fed ex freight operator and you will need two ppl to bring in the very large box as it is fully assembled except for the fireplace. The handles of the cabinets are inside out to protect them and just need to be removed and turned to face outward. There was plenty of packing material and was packed very well. The fireplace was anchored to the box and has to be removed so that you can then place it into the console. Once you remove the fireplace from its anchors, you have to remove the glass with two screws to take out the boxes from the inside of the glass holding the fake wood in place. Then, once the glass is put back on you have to line up the fireplace centered inside the console from the back. This is when there was some confusion since the fireplace is a bit smaller than the opening. You have to center it the best you can, so you don't see light coming through. You would think that side of the fireplace would line up to the wood slats on the inside of the cabinet, but they do not. The anchors removed from the box need to then be put in the back of the fireplace and that is what holds it into place. There aren't clear directions on where to put the two anchors and there are several small holes in various places so it isn't clear. The anchors were attached to the sides in the box, but when you install the fire box you put the anchors at the bottom. The fireplace provides several settings up to 82 degree heat or you can choose no heat. There are several light settings as well such as the picture shown or green, blue, red etc. I contacted Bridgevine and they did state it will heat 1,000 square feet. I wouldn't say it produced a lot of heat, but I did notice we could turn down the heat in our house when I have it on. The entire reason I purchased it is that our downstairs is so cold and our upstairs gets so hot if the heat is at 68 or above. It has allowed us to keep our heat at 65 or less in the house. The cord for the fireplace has to be dedicated to one outlet. You cannot put anything else in that outlet. You need to plug your tv etc. in an entirely different outlet. You cannot use an extension cord for the fireplace. I say this because we are having to use one for our tv etc since there is only one outlet directly behind the console. There was an initial smell when unpacking and for the first week, but it smelled more like the stain used. This didn't bother me as I am glad it didn't have a chemical smell like some inexpensive furniture can. This is not an inexpensive piece and is solid wood with wood grain and wood imperfections such as knots. This doesn't bother me as I enjoy the imperfections of real wood vs veneer. The cabinets on either side provide us with plenty of storage for games, videos, etc. We used the two open areas for our cable box and a game console. Overall, this piece is beautiful and is keeping us warm on cold nights in Colorado. We are very happy that we replaced a very large entertainment center with this piece as the entire room looks bigger now. The tv shown in the picture is only 40 inches so we may finally upgrade to 55. It could easily hold a 75 or 85 inch, but that would be much too large for the room we have this piece in. I have emailed Bridgevine several times asking for the stain color since the one door has a bit of stain missing. They did email back and state they would send me a new door. I still would like the color since I would like to match another piece to this color in our home. ... show more

I was so hesitant to purchase this fireplace without seeing it in person. However, after months of searching I decided I might as well give it a try because reviews for their other products seemed to be positive. I was astonished at the quality and beautiful finish. It arrived a week early (just in time for Thanksgiving) and you really did just need to unbox it. The handles to the doors were attached on the inside, but I quickly realized it was a simple fix and likely placed that way for shipping purposes. At first I had really wished there were more directions included because I was afraid of messing it up but it was very straight forward. There was a piece of wood that had broken off (maybe?) that was in the box but I couldn’t quite figure out where it would even go and it was not the same color. So maybe a pallet broke in transport? There was a chip I was initially concerned about but the fireplace insert lays right over. I strongly recommend this product. It is heavy/sturdy. It is easy to use. Though I have only had it for an afternoon it so far has exceeded my expectations. I will include a couple of photos. The photos don’t do it justice though and if it’s possible after I decorate I can add additional photos. Also, I am not a person that writes reviews for products but since I had wished I had more reviews when I kept coming back and looking at this product I figured I might as well try to make one in case someone else was hesitant in purchasing. ... show more

I am so glad someone posted a review of this fireplace. I was also hesitant about buying is sight unseen but took a chance based upon the review. This arrived two weeks earlier than promised. Excellent packing materials used and there was no damage. The only assembly required is unboxing the fireplace portion and putting it in the cabinet. The quality is OUTSTANDING. Very nice workmanship on the cabinet and the fireplace unit is beautiful. I have the heater on and it makes no noise and provides a decent amount of heat.
